Mount Gilead advances to the sectional finals to take on No. 17 Grandview Heights on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Liberty Union hosted Fairbanks in Wednesday's Division III Sectional matchup. The Lions used a 16-4 fourth quarter run to slip past Fairbanks by a score of 54 to 47.
The teams went shot for shot in the first quarter and headed into the second period with a tie score. Fairbanks dominated the offensive boards in the second quarter giving them a 26-22 lead at the half.
Sophomore Abbie Riddle came alive in the second half for the Lions. She topped off a great third quarter with a buzzer beater from the middle of the key. Riddle fueled a 16-4 run to start the fourth and secure the win.
