COLUMBUS, Ohio -- All it took was a tweet to get Central Ohio basketball buzzing on Wednesday. The area's top wing and the state's top player, Jordan Mitchell, appears to be moving on to prep powerhouse Montverde Academy in Florida following the season.
Mitchell's father, Robert Mitchell, broke the news on Twitter in a single tweet. 270 Hoops confirmed with Robert Mitchell that his son will be finishing out the season at Gahanna before moving on to Montverde, a program that has produced recent top five picks Ben Simmons and D'Angelo Russell, among others.

Jordan Mitchell's departure will be a big blow for a Gahanna program that has been up and down this season. Mitchell was the team's most talented scorer, rebounder and passer this season, averaging 11.7 points per game.
At Montverde, Mitchell will excel on a national stage where he will be able to show his immense talents in front of the country. Up to this point, Mitchell has received offers from Ohio State, Iowa, Xavier and Florida, while big-time programs like Kentucky have shown interest.
Moving on to a program that has churned out NBA talent as well as any in the country, Mitchell will have every chance to make the most out of the pro-level upside that he possesses. Mitchell has been ranked atop the 2019 class by 270 Hoops since the beginning of his freshman season.
You can check out Mitchell in his last OCC-Ohio league game on Friday at Pickerington Central.
