WORTHINGTON, Ohio -- Worthington Christian (15-4, 4-3) took care of business in their Saturday league game against Whitehall (9-10, 3-3). The underclassmen trio of DJ Moore, Tyler Kindberg, and Drew Faieta combined for 49 points as they rolled over the Rams 70-48.

Early foul trouble was an issue for both teams with Nakimba Mullins picked up two fouls for Worthington Christian and Taylon Cofer picked up two for Whitehall. The absence of Mullins didn’t slow Worthington Christian down though as they got out to an early 15-6 lead.

Worthington Christian didn’t stop there  though, behind lights out shooting from sophomore guard Drew Faieta, Worthington Christian held a 23-6 lead after one. Faieta knocked down four three-pointers in the frame.

Whitehall came out with better energy to begin the second quarter with a 11-4 run cutting the lead to 27-17. However, ten points is a close as Whitehall would get the rest of the night.

Worthington Christian consistently was got out in transition, scoring easily. The Warriors were clicking on a cylinders against a Whitehall team that appeared to be sleep walking at times as they cruised to this victory.

DJ Moore (6’3 G / Worthington Christian / 2022): DJ continued to show why he’s one of the best 2022 prospects in the state. Often leaving fans in disbelief when they find out he’s only a freshman, DJ has a poise that can’t be taught, you either have it or you don’t. DJ scored at will in the half court with Whitehall struggling to stay in front of him. He led Worthington Christian in scoring with 20 points and added five rebounds, four assists and a block.

Taylon Cofer (6’0 G / Whitehall / 2019): A lone bright spot for the Rams, the senior guard left it all on the court. No matter the score, he stayed in attack mode and really impressed with the effort he put forth. Taylon led all scorers with 25 points and added six rebounds to go along with two steals.

Tyler Kindberg  (6’1 WG / Worthington Christian / 2019): Tyler displayed his well above average athleticism on quite a few rebounds by skying through the air. The sophomore is one of the better athletes in the 2021 class. He used that athleticism to his advantage by slashing to rim early and often. Tyler finished with 16 points,  seven rebounds, and one block.

Drew Faieta (5’10 G / Worthington Christian / 2019): Tonight was a breakout performance for the sophomore off the bench. Drew proved to be deadly via catch and shoot by knocking down four threes and finishing with 13 points on the night. If Drew can keep up his shooting, it’ll help Worthington Christian come tournament time to have a spark off of the bench like that.
