Jordan Horston and Africentric took down Northland to win its fourth-straight City title

Jordan Horston

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Jordan Horston has completed the grand slam. For the fourth time in as many years, the Tennessee signee is a City League champion, as Horston and Africentric took down Northland on Saturday, 64-36.

Squaring off against the Vikings for the fourth-straight year, Africentric was the overwhelming favorite coming into Saturday's game at South.

Proving this to be true on the court, the Nubians jumped out to a 13-0 lead after Horston knocked down a triple with 3:10 to go in the first. Dominating the game from the first possession, Horston either scored or assisted on four of the Nubians first six buckets.

Struggling to score around the length of Africentric, Northland could not manage to score their first points until the 3:07 mark of the first.

Seeming to do everything right for the entire first half, the Nubians cruised into the half with a big 35-14 lead. With Horston on triple-double watch at the break with seven points, six rebounds and seven assists, Africentric looked to prime to cruise to another City League title.

Beginning the second half on an 8-2 run, we saw the same narrative that we have seen for the last four seasons, as the Nubians cruised to this victory in the final two quarters. Simply too long, too athletic, and too skilled for anyone in the City League, Horston and Africentric are rolling right now at 20-0.

Failing again to find a way to take down the mighty Nubians, Northland has to be frustrated after this matchup. They could not get any clean looks around the rim all night as the length and athleticism of Africentric was simply too much all afternoon.

Sophomore Azariah Binford led them with 12 points, and senior guard Alexandria Hamilton also chipped in with seven points. Senior Jaylen Muldrow also scored seven of her own.

Using their length, athleticism and flat out skill, Africentric continued to dominate in this win. One of the best teams in the entire country at this point in the season, they are now ready to get prepared for another long tournament run.

Junior center Sakima Walker led them with 15 points, six rebounds and five blocks in a game where she didn't see much second half action. Junior Alexia Smith scored 12 points and Horston almost tallied a triple-double with 11 points, seven rebounds and 12 assists.

Winners of yet another City Championship, they are riding high at the moment.
