PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- One week as a starter was all it took for Pickerington Central sophomore wing Garner Wallace to win Just Hoops Player of the Week honors.
Going for 86 combined points in four big wins over Trotwood-Madison, Garfield Heights, Westerville South and Lancaster, Wallace filled the void left from Pickerington Central missing three senior starters last week. Snatching his starting role and never looking back, Wallace went for a career-high 30 points in the win over Garfield Heights, punishing the Bulldogs in transition.
Receiving more than 50 percent of 13,000 votes, Wallace won in a total landslide after the first two days of voting. The 6-foot-5 sophomore will be back in action on Friday as the Tigers host rival Reynoldsburg in the Battle for 256.
