Na'elle Simmons and Beechcroft climb to No. 6 this week

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Another week has passed and we are onto the back half of the high school basketball season. While snow (rain) put an end to nearly all of the weekend's matchups, we still have brand new rankings to unleash in Division II.

(team, record, strength of record points)

1. South (12-1, 16) - In one of the worst games that Ramon Spears has ever been a part of, South suffered a tough loss to Walnut Ridge in a very selfish showing. Taking its first loss and facing adversity for the first time all year, the Bulldogs can get back on track with league games against Marion-Franklin and Eastmoor this week.

2. DeSales (9-4, 7) - DeSales has a big statement week coming up with two top 10 matchups against No. 5 Granville and No. 9 Bishop Watterson. Still unbeaten in the CCL, the Stallions have the biggest target on its back since 2016 when DeSales advanced to the Division II regional final.

3. Jonathan Alder (10-3, 2) - In a Central Buckeye Conference that hasn't been the strongest in the area this year, Jonathan Alder has excelled with just one loss to Kenton Ridge. Holding a tie breaker over London, the Pioneers can stay hot this week against Urbana and Tecumseh.

4. Bishop Hartley (7-5, 7) - After a slow start, Hartley seems to be turning a corner as the Hawks took down Watterson last Friday in a game it needed badly in the CCL. Hartley will end its week with matchups against Bishop Ready and No. 20 (D1) Westerville North.

5. Granville (9-2, 3) - A defensive stalwart in the Licking County League, Granville picked up its biggest win of the year against Johnstown last Wednesday. The Blue Aces can make a statement on the road at No. 2 DeSales on Tuesday in a game that could do a lot for Granville's seeding.

6. Beechcroft (10-3, 1) - Don't look now, but Beechcroft controls its own destiny once again in the City League North. Winning eight straight games, the Cougars are as hot as any team in Division II. Beechcroft has two winnable games this week in league play against Whetstone and Linden-McKinley.

7. London (12-2, 0) - London has continued to roll in the CBC after a loss to Jonathan Alder two weeks ago. The Red Raiders have two very winnable matchups in league play against Indian Lake and Shawnee.

8. Bexley (10-5, 6) - Bexley's momentum was halted at home on Friday against Whitehall in a tough loss. The Lions have another difficult league game against No. 10 (D3) Grandview Heights. A win would do wonders for Bexley.

9. Bishop Watterson (6-7, 3) - Suffering back-to-back losses to Westerville North and Bishop Hartley last week, Watterson has a chance to redeem itself on Friday against No. 2 DeSales on the road. The Eagles will get a winnable matchup on Saturday at Mansfield Madison.

10. Fairfield Union (9-4, 3) - In sole possession of first place in the MSL-Buckeye, Fairfield Union is rolling after a slow start to the season. The Falcons have one game this week with a sneaky road test at Logan Elm.
