Olentangy Berlin junior Nick Camacho went for 18 points on Monday

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- In a battle of two of the newest programs in Central Ohio, Olentangy Berlin (2-11) rolled over International (2-9) on the road, 77-39.

The Bears started off hot, jumping out to a 7-0 lead in the opening minute that spiraled into a 26-11 first quarter lead. Moving the ball, knocking down shots and scoring at the rim, Berlin dominated the middle quarters leading by as much as 40 points in the third quarter.

Cruising to a 77-39 victory, Berlin picks up a much-needed victory for confidence against an International program that has improved from previous years.

A team full of non-seniors, Berlin was led by junior guard Nick Camacho, who scored a game-high 18 points. Camacho was joined in double figures by sophomore wing Jacob Moeller (12 points), junior guard Grant Schrieber (11 points) and junior forward Zak Stevens (10 points). Knocking down seven threes and combining for 18 team assists, Berlin put together a great team performance on the road.

For International, seniors Javon Moses and Yayi Conde powered the Lions offense, combining for 24 points. Starting the game with three-straight turnovers, International struggled with Berlin's zone for most of the game.

Berlin will look to remain hot at home against Dublin Scioto on Friday.

International has two league games in the next four days at home against Linden-McKinley and Northland.

Nick Camacho (6'0 G / Olentangy Berlin / 2020): Camacho led all scorers on Monday, going for 18 points and three assists. The junior guard was in attack mode all game long, getting to the rim at will and finishing when he got there. The 6-foot guard is a crafty finisher who plays with a lot of confidence. Camacho had several scores at the rim but also knocked down dribble pull-ups from mid-range and just inside the three-point line. We like the backcourt going forward for the Bears between Camacho and sophomore Austin Corley, who showed off as a passer on Monday.

Yayi Conde (6'5 C / International / 2019): One of the leading scorers in the City League, it was nice to get eyes on Conde on Monday. The big bodied senior is a tank of a post who has nimble feet and plays like a bull in a china shop inside. Conde is strong as an ox, has good hands, rebounds at a high level and is a crafty below-the-rim finisher. Junior college programs in Ohio should consider offering Conde, as he could be really effective if he gets into better shape and drops a little weight. Playing about a half of action before checking out with what looked like an injury, Conde finished with 10 points and five rebounds.

Zak Stevens (6'7 PF / Olentangy Berlin / 2020): The younger brother of former Delaware Hayes and Ohio Dominican standout Alex Stevens who we covered five years ago, it was nice to see the junior big Zak Stevens on Monday. A lanky 6-foot-7 developing big, Stevens had a solid night, finishing with 10 points, four rebounds and a block. Stevens has a wide frame that he should be able to put weight on and has good touch around the basket. It's a slow cook for big man prospects and Stevens is someone who could develop into a reliable small college big man in time, as he plays hard, has a good feel and is a legit 6-foot-7.

Javon Moses (6'3 PG / International / 2019): The athletic 6-foot-3 Moses is International's top guard prospect. A wiry guard with a quick first step, Moses got into the lane several times against Berlin's zone. Moses has a good motor and plays with confidence, as he finished with 14 points and five rebounds on Monday.

Jacob Moeller (6'3 WF / Olentangy Berlin / 2021): Another solid sophomore for the Bears, Moeller had a great first quarter, scoring eight points on two three-point field goals. The 6-foot-3 Moeller, who serves as Berlin's quarterback this past fall, has a nice shooting stroke, is a solid athlete and should continue to improve as he matures. Moeller and junior guard Grant Schrieber combined for five of the Bears' seven threes on Monday.
