Jay Rodgers and Pickerington Central are rolling at 8-0

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- It's almost time to tip off 2019. Before the ball drops, let's take a look at the latest rankings in Division I heading into the New Year.

1. Pickerington Central (8-0) - The Tigers are rolling at 8-0 and are coming off two wins in Detroit at the Motor City Classic against top competition from Michigan. One league game at home against Grove City awaits this week, where Pickerington Central will be heavily favored.

2. Hilliard Bradley (7-0) - With Jack Pugh out for what could be an extended period of time, Bradley has been forced to adjust and change its rotation. The Jags will be greatly tested this week with a home matchup against No. 8 Delaware Hayes on Friday, before turning around and taking on No. 5 Walnut Ridge on Saturday at Africentric.

3. Dublin Coffman (7-0) - The most prolific offense in the area kept churning this past weekend, as the Rocks picked up quality wins over Lakota East and Proctorville Fairland. Coffman will be favored in both home matchups against Central Crossing and Dayton Ponitz this weekend.

4. Pickerington North (6-1) - The Panthers will look to remain in the hunt for an OCC-Ohio crown with a home matchup against No. 10 Reynoldsburg on Friday. Pickerington North will travel to Africentric to take on Centennial on Saturday afternoon. The young Panthers have been very impressive to begin the season.

5. Walnut Ridge (7-1) - Walnut Ridge can prove that they are legitimate district title contenders and beyond with Saturday's matchup against No. 2 Hilliard Bradley. Bradley will force the Scots to make shots in order to space them out, which will be a great chance for Walnut Ridge to prove that they can compete among the OCC's elite.

6. Olentangy Liberty (6-2) - The Patriots are coming off a title at the Pensacola Holiday Classic in Florida where Ben Roderick made history by going for 51 points in the final of three games. Behind Roderick, Liberty has rolled through the first eight games and will have a test on Saturday at home against Huber Heights Wayne.

7. Upper Arlington (5-1) - Max Martz did not play this past weekend against Ringwood out of Australia and may not play this week against Marysville and Eastmoor. Regardless, the Golden Bears will be favored, as secondary players like Jake Warinner have stepped up in his absence.

8. Delaware Hayes (7-1) - Delaware Hayes fell in the title round of the KSA Holiday Classic in Orlando, losing to a good Monsignor Farrell squad out of New York. The Pacers can make a statement in the area and in the OCC by knocking off No. 2 Hilliard Bradley on Friday.

9. Gahanna (6-2) - Gahanna picked up a quality win away from home at Zanesville on Saturday, where freshman sensation Sean Jones shined once again. The Lions have two winnable games on the schedule with Linden coming to town on Wednesday, before travelling to Lancaster on Friday.

10. Reynoldsburg (7-2) - The Raiders went 2-0 at the Stephen Gussler Invitational last week and will look to carry that positive momentum into 2019. Friday's matchup at No. 4 Pickerington North will have huge implications in the race for the OCC-Ohio. Reynoldsburg rounds out the week with a home matchup against Zanesville.

11. Newark (8-1) - Rolling Licking Heights in the title round of its holiday tournament, Newark kept the train rolling to end 2018. The Wildcats can extend its OCC-Capital win streak to 24 games by taking down Groveport on Friday before travelling to Mount Vernon on Saturday.

12. Hilliard Davidson (6-2) - A light week awaits the Wildcats, as Davidson will travel to Westland on Friday. With great size and plenty of senior leadership, Davidson is a sleeper to watch going forward. The return of Gage Keys will be 'key' late in the season.

13. Canal Winchester (8-0) - The only undefeated team outside the top three, Canal Winchester has done nothing but win to start the year. The Indians have a difficult slate next week following Friday's New Albany matchup on the road, as Canal will host Chillicothe on Jan. 9 before taking on Newark two days later in a matchup that will have huge implications in the OCC-Capital.

14. Olentangy Orange (6-3) - Orange remains in the top 15 after narrowly taking down Central Crossing at home last week. The Pioneers head to Olentangy on Friday in a rivalry matchup that went down to the wire both times last year.

15. Thomas Worthington (6-2) - Thomas Worthington enters the top 15 for the first time this season after an impressive showing in its own holiday tournament. Following a 45-point beatdown of Brunswick last Saturday, Thomas is looking to carry that momentum into weekend matchups against Africentric and Olentangy Berlin.
