Harvest Prep has been undoubtedly the top team in Division III this year

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Christmas has come and gone and it's almost time for high school basketball to heat back up. Let's take a look at the newest power rankings in Division III.

1. Harvest Prep (5-0) - Outscoring its last four opponents by 163 points, Harvest Prep has thoroughly dominated its schedule to begin the year. The Warriors head to Jefferson City, Mo. this week to take part in the Machens Great Eight Invitational, the same tournament that Upper Arlington won a year ago.

2. Johnstown (4-0) - Coach Zach Ross has brought over the defensive principles from  Hilliard Bradley and Johnstown has reaped the benefits, shutting down every opponent its faced this year. The Johnnies have a tough matchup against No. 2 (D2) Jonathan Alder, and with a win, will likely face No. 3 Grandview Heights. If Johnstown is 6-0 by this time next week, they'll begin to receive some first place votes in this poll.

3. Grandview Heights (5-2) - The Bobcats have the best junior duo in Division III and will look to use that to its advantage this week in its annual Bobcat Holiday Classic. Grandview will need to win both games in order to remain among the top three in the division.

4. Fairbanks (5-1) - Fairbanks has been one of the more surprising teams in Division III to begin the year, as senior Cross Hackathorne has been a big reason for that. A road matchup at Cedarville awaits later this week.

5. West Jefferson (6-1) - West Jeff put the area on watch when it went on the road and shut down Worthington Christian nearly two weeks ago. With its only loss coming to Fairbanks, the Roughriders will look to remain hot with road matchups at Greenon and Linden-McKinley.

6. Pleasant (4-1) - Falling by double digits to Buckeye Valley last week, Pleasant fell back to earth in the MOAC and suffered its first loss of the year. The Spartans can get back on track with road games at North Union and Elgin this week.

7. Africentric (4-2) - Suffering a tough overtime loss to Eastmoor last week, Africentric took its first loss of the season in the City League. The Nubians are off this week before a busy January, in which it will host Thomas Worthington in the third annual The Challenge.

8. Worthington Christian (5-2) - Led primarily by freshman DJ Moore, Worthington Christian has been improved from last season and a sight to see. The Warriors will play a KMAC style schedule this week with games against Mount Gilead and Northmor to end 2018.

9. Columbus Academy (4-3) - The Vikings forced its way back into the poll by taking down Bexley last weekend and will look to win the Briggs Holiday Classic this week. Columbus Academy cannot afford to suffer any more lapses the rest of the way.

10. Fredericktown (4-2) - The Freddies have played some great ball to begin the year and much of that is due to the play of the Cunningham family. Nick, Clem and Lincoln have all played efficient ball to begin the year, as the baseball stars who led the Freddies to a district title last spring, are getting it done on the hardwood. Fredericktown will look to stay hot against River Valley this weekend.
