St. Charles freshman guard Jared Frey is the Just Hoops Player of the Week

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- In what was just second full week of high school basketball, St. Charles freshman Jared Frey put his name on the map with two exceptional performances allowing the Cardinals to pick up two big wins.

In a huge 79-74 win over CCL-foe Bishop Ready on Dec. 7, Frey finished with a game high 28 points. The very next night, the freshman also led all scorers with 19 points as the Cardinals took down Westland, winning 70-62.

Frey took home 50 percent of the votes, as he beat out several big time names such as Walnut Ridge’s Von Cameron Davis and Pickerington Central’s Javohn Garcia to be named the Just Hoops Player of the Week. One of the more interesting freshman in the area, it is his perimeter shooting that gives Frey an advantage over many guards his age. He has been scoring at an extremely high rate to start the season, and it will be interesting to see if he can continue to produce at this rate.

Frey and the St. Charles will be back in action next Friday night, as they get set to receive their toughest test yet in Bishop Watterson. The Cardinals are flying high right now at 4-1, and they will look to ride this momentum into the heart of December behind the play of the star freshman.
