This segment is brought to you by Just Hoops by Shoot-A-Way. Just Hoops is a basketball training facility located in Powell/Lewis Center just 10 minutes from Interstate 270 off Route 23.

If you haven’t been here before, you have to check it out. Walnut Ridge has a very rich basketball history. Whether it is the 1971 state championship team that featured a starting five full of Division I talent or the dominant players who have come through the program in the last 20+ years, the Scots have had their fair share of big-time basketball on 4841 Livingston Avenue.

Not once has a current or former Walnut Ridge player scored more in a single game than junior Von Cameron Davis, though. Going for a school-record 46 points on Saturday at the Ohio Valley Hoops Classic, Davis shattered the previous record of 43 points, in which he tied just last season. Because of that, Davis is the first-ever unanimous Just Hoops Player of the Week for the first weekend of the season.

Davis was the key reason the Scots were able to take down defending Kentucky state semifinalist Campbell County on Saturday, as the junior forward had 29 of the team's 40 points through three quarters. Exploding for 17 points in the fourth quarter alone, Davis did what big-time players do by putting the team on his back to start the season off with a win.

Davis' performance broke the Ohio Valley Hoops Classic event record for points which was set just three years ago by current Cincinnati standout Jarron Cumberland of Wilmington.

Fresh off averaging 22.5 points per game as a sophomore, Davis is confident that he can average close to 30 points per contest this winter, as the 6-foot-5 forward is as productive as any player you'll find in the state.

Davis and the Scots look to stay hot on Tuesday with a tough road matchup at Bishop Watterson.
