Linden-McKinley senior David Brown was Friday's top performer

WORTHINGTON, Ohio -- Hosting eight teams on Friday evening, Thomas Worthington had plenty of talent in the building as several area squads made the trip up Route 315. Let's take a look at the top performers from the event.

David Brown (6'6 WF / Linden-McKinley / 2019): After leading Linden-McKinley in scoring a season ago, Brown wasted no time in beginning his senior year off with a bang. While the Panthers have lost several key contributors from last year's team, Brown showed that he is ready to fully carry the load in 2018-19. The 6-foot-6 wing showed a better ability to get to the rim, finishing athletically when he got there. With a wiry frame that Brown is still filling into, he was impressive with his ability to finish through contact. The rising senior's next challenge will to become a better ball-handler and perimeter playmaker. With the ability to defend multiple positions, we really like Brown's upside going forward.

Bo Myers (6'5 WG / Logan / 2019): The Malone commit Myers was by far the most skilled player in the gym and a difficult matchup for anyone. An elite shooter with range for days, Myers scored it in every way on Friday, really impressing on the drive. Myers has a great feel, plays with a good pace and knows how to create separation. Look for him to light it up for the Chieftans this winter before moving onto what should be a great college career.

Ben Wight (6'9 C / Thomas Worthington / 2019): The Ohio signee was the best big man on the floor on Friday, showing improved strength and toughness around the basket. Arguably the best shot blocker in the area, Wight was a force around the rim and played some of his best basketball. Wight's added strength has been a difference maker so far and will be the key for him going forward.

Artrell Saunders (6'0 PG / Franklin Heights / 2022): The big physical guard Saunders impressed us in our short viewing of Franklin Heights. The freshman is physically built for his age and is ready to handle the rigor of varsity basketball. Saunders has a nice feel, plays with good pace and made several great reads in the pick and roll. As Franklin Heights has been in dire need of top-end talent since now Kent State senior Akiean Frederick graduated in 2014, Saunders has a chance to be the next Falcon standout if he continues to improve.

Anthony Lowe (5'11 PG / Central Crossing / 2020): Lowe was one of the very best lead guards in the gym, as he was consistently able to blow past defenders and get into the lane. A great athlete who really excelled on the football field this fall, Lowe showed that he is more than just a lockdown corner. A talented ball handler with a lot of shift to his game, Lowe will be the top option for Central Crossing this season and should put up big numbers. Alongside Lowe, the Comets have some promising pieces including junior 6-foot-3 wing Tyler Ronevich and senior 6-foot-5 center Jashaad Montague.

Zach Wilson (6'1 CG / Worthington Kilbourne / 2019): A longtime starter for the Wolves, Wilson was excellent in our viewing of him on Friday. Shooting lights out from the perimeter, Wilson really excelled off the ball as Worthington Kilbourne has a few more ball handling options in 2018-19. While Wilson may have an unorthodox release, he can knock in shots as well as anyone and should be a very good prospect for the Division III level. Wilson, alongside sophomore guard Cayden Daugherty and freshman Ayden Parsons give the Wolves a heady trio in the backcourt.

Abdi Gelle (6'4 WF / West / 2020): One of the very best shooters in the City League, Gelle was impressive as West's top offensive option on Friday. The 6-foot-4 wing is playing with great confidence as of late, as he has added more to his overall offensive game. With a lengthy wingspan, Gelle is a late blooming prospect who hasn't yet played his best basketball. Look for Gelle to lead West in scoring this season and be one of the top breakout players in the City.
