Four of Central Ohio's best seniors made commitments this week

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- With the high school season a little more than two months away, seniors all across Central Ohio are finalizing decisions for the next level. Four of those players made commitments this week, as the 2019 continues to heat up.

Josh Corbin chooses Winthrop over several Mid American Conference suitors

There is little doubt that Josh Corbin is one of the very best scorers in the senior class statewide. It was Corbin's shooting ability on the EYBL that opened the eyes of a dozen Division I programs who ended up offering him scholarships over the course of the last year.

Corbin put an end to his recruitment, committing to Winthrop on Wednesday, choosing the Eagles over 11 other programs. The top wing guard in the area, Corbin returns to Gahanna where he is looking to lead the Lions to the top of the OCC and past the district semifinals for the first time since 2016.

Logan sharpshooter Bo Myers commits to Malone

The best scorer outside of the Central Ohio area, Logan's Bo Myers was a hot commodity among Division II programs throughout the entire summer. Myers chose to stay in-state, committing to Malone on Friday, choosing the Pioneers over a host of regional Division II programs.

Myers was a major reason for Logan's success last season, which included a conference title but ended in the district semifinals against Westerville South. Returning to the Chieftans for his senior year, Myers has a chance to get this program to the district finals, as the 6-foot-5 wing is as good as they come from beyond the three-point line.

Malone is no stranger to Central Ohio, as the Pioneers currently feature Ben Evans (Delaware Christian/2015) and Daylan Haynie (Westerville South/2016).

West Liberty strikes gold with Johnstown's Owen Hazelbaker

The rich get richer. Nabbing one of the elite post players in Central Ohio's senior class, West Liberty secured a coveted commitment in Johnstown's Owen Hazelbaker on Friday. The 6-foot-7 Hazelbaker joins a program that frequently targets Central Ohio players, as he becomes the second commitment from the area, joining Fairfield Union point guard Evan Conley.

One of the most successful programs across all of college basketball over the last decade, West Liberty knew exactly what it wanted in Hazelbaker, as the mobile big man will fit in well with what the Hilltoppers do on both ends of the floor. Hazelbaker enters a program that already has two local players in Tyler Primmer (Teays Valley/2014) and Will Yoakum (Delaware Hayes/2017).

Big Walnut point guard Jordan Koebel chooses Ohio Northern

A key member in a Big Walnut senior class that could be very successful in its final go around, point guard Jordan Koebel is as tough as they come. Choosing to put his recruitment behind him and focus on the season ahead, Koebel commited to Ohio Northern on Thursday.

With plenty of varsity experience, Koebel is a key piece to a Big Walnut program that is on the rise. After winning 10 games last season, the Eagles have a chance to win more than 12 games for the first time since 2012 this winter behind Koebel and his fellow seniors. A composed guard who can make shots, run a team and play both ends, Koebel joins an Ohio Northern program that was done well in Central Ohio. Former Northland guard Brandon Waugh was a standout as a freshman this past season and will welcome Koebel in the backcourt a year from now.

With four commitments this week, the 2019 class in Central Ohio is up to 11 pledges early on in the process. Take a look at them all below.
