COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Africentric hosted a 9-team scrimmage on Wednesday featuring some of the top talent from around the state. Let's take a look at the top performers from the Central Ohio participants.

Morgan Safford (6'3 WG / Bishop Hartley / 2019): Safford dominated in my viewing  of him. He showed off his ability to score the ball at all three levels and did it at will. Safford flashed playmaking skills as well finding open teammates when the defense helped. Safford's most impressive play came on a nasty put back jam in transition. With the departure of senior Garrett Tipton, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Safford be among the leading scorers in the area this winter. 

N’Keeley Elmore (5'8 PG / Northland / 2019): Elmore is a coach on the floor. Not only was he running the show, but  he set the tone early defensively in Northland’s win over Africentric. He had some nice finishes at the rim in transition and made some perimeter shots. Most impressive was his ability to penetrate and find easy opportunities for his teammates. Elmore is the heartbeat of this team and will be relied on heavily in order for Northland to be kings of the City League North again. 

Makhale Massey (6'3 WG / Northland / 2021): With this Northland team being smaller than usual, Massey saw most of his minutes at the five spot. He was a pest contesting everything that came his way. Massey blocked two shots and altered many others. There’s no real signs of Massey missing his entire freshman season with a ACL injury as he was very explosive on both ends of the floor. He finished at the rim at a  high rate converting on a pair of and-one's along with other impressive finishes and almost a big time poster finish. The wing seems poised to burst on to the scene in his sophomore season, as he could very well be the reason why Northland remains atop the North division.

AJ Glover (6'4 WG / Africentric / 2021): The sophomore guard is physically imposing at 6-foot-4. He put his offensive game on full display in my viewing of him. Glover showed just how hard it is to stay in front of him as he finished at the rim or drew a foul on most of his drives. He showed the ability to bury the three easily when the defense played off of him. Glover is apart of a young but talented Africentric core that’ll be fun to watch  grow.

Hunter Shedenhelm (6'4 WG / Pickerington North / 2020): With the departure of Indiana signee Jerome Hunter and six other seniors, the opportunity to step up  in a big way will be there for Shedenhelm this winter. Shedenhelm's reputation as a knock down shooter held tough as he was able to convert from three often in my viewing. The junior wing showed flashes of putting the ball on the floor and getting to the rim, as that is really the next stop for him to take his game to another level. Shedenhelm looks like he’s ready to be a leader of a young Panthers team in a built of a rebuild.
