COLUMBUS, Ohio -- With first game jitters out of the way, Central Ohio's top hoopers came to play on Friday night. Let's take a look at the top scorers from the night's action.
Performance: 28 points in a win over New Hope Christian
Dawson began his senior year with a bang in a 28 point performance against New Hope Christian. The 6-foot-4 guard is a talented scorer who finds way to put the ball in the bucket on nearly every level. Dawson's length and versatility will be crucial for Bishop Ready as the Silver Knights are looking to capture a Central Catholic League title this winter.
Performance: 27 points in a win over Groveport
A year after a tough overtime loss to the Cruisers at home, Hickman and Westerville Central had no plans of going down on Friday. In a matchup on the road, the Warhawks took care of business as Hickman led the way with 27 points in a 78-60 victory. A talented 6-foot-2 guard with lots of athleticism, Hickman is a four-year varsity guy that would be a good look for any college program in need of guard help.
Performance: 25 points in a loss vs. Westerville Central
While Hickman was the game's top scorer, Cherry wasn't far behind as the senior guard led Groveport with 25 points. A talented scoring guard who can get hot in a hurry from the perimeter, Cherry enters this season with great momentum from AAU. With a big-time 25-point performance behind him, Cherry and Groveport will look to bounce back next week.
Performance: 25 points in a win over Maumee Valley
In a matchup vs. top 2020 guard Zeb Jackson and Maumee Valley, Wellington held home court as Pierre-Louis led the way with a game-high 25 points. Signing to Air Force before the season, Pierre-Louis began his senior season on a high note. After sitting out half of last season due to transfer rules, Pierre-Louis looks to lead Wellington back to the state final four in his first full season as a Jaguar.
Performance: 25 points in a win over Vinton County
Playing his first game for Bloom-Carroll after transferring from Licking Heights, Brown got off to a hot start in a neutral site win over Vinton County. Going for 25 points, Brown and fellow sophomore Otto Kuhns combined for 46 for the Bulldogs, who took down a Vinton County team that made a run to the regional finals in Division II last season. Brown has tremendous scoring ability and will be a major piece of the next wave of talent for Bloom-Carroll.
