A look at the inaugural 270 Hoops Fall League season

POWELL, Ohio -- The inaugural 270 Hoops Fall League has come and gone as the championship tournament took place on Sunday at Olentangy Orange. Top seeded Offers Only took care of business against No. 2 270 Hoopers, 70-62.  On behalf of 270 Hoops and Nova Village Athletic Club, we would like to thank all sponsors, volunteers, spectators, participants and especially Olentangy Orange High School.

With the season behind us, let's take a look at a recap of the last six weeks.

Final Standings

1. Offers Only: 11-2, league champions

2. 270 Hoopers: 10-3, league runner-up

3. Team Work: 7-4

4. Shift Team: 5-7, final four

4. 3's Up: 5-7, final four

6. Tar Heel Elite: 4-7

7. Arch City Clippers: 3-8

8. Next Gen: 2-9

Offers Only rolls to league title

Winning its last eight games, Offers Only (11-2) rolled in convincing fashion on championship Sunday. Winning seven of its last eight games by double digits, Offers Only got the job done each time out, mainly due to the commitment of its nine players.

Showing up en mass every week, this unit was the most consistent for the last six weeks. Despite having a group of players who are the top one or two options at their high schools, this group played great team basketball, going hard on both ends of the floor.

With a few pieces coming back for the 2018 season, look for this group to defend its league title in year two.

Season Awards

MVP: Taevion Kinsey (Sr. SG, Eastmoor)

The most consistent player on the best team, Kinsey wins the inaugural 270 Hoops Fall League MVP. The best athlete in the event, Kinsey did much more outside his thunderous highlight dunks, defending all five positions, making plays with the ball and being a great teammate. Kinsey finished the season among the top ten players in scoring and assists, while being the key cog to Offers Only's suffocating defense.

Superlatives

Top Scorer

Morgan Safford (6'4 SG / Bishop Hartley / Tar Heel Elite / 2019)

Safford led the league in points per game, finishing as the only player to score more than 20 points per contest. Safford had a season-high of 30 points. Big-time scorer who can fill it up in a hurry.

Top Rebounder

Eli McNamara (6'9 PF / Pickerington North / Team Work / 2018)

McNamara capped off a dominant fall league season as the league's top rebounder.  At 6.7 rebounds per game, McNamara controlled the glass for all 10 games that he took part in. Through the first two weeks, McNamara was the only player in the league averaging a double-double.

Top Passer

Qian Magwood (6'0 PG / Walnut Ridge / Arch City Clips / 2020)

Finishing the season with 3.9 assists per game, Magwood is the league's top passer. A two-way point guard with elite quickness, Magwood is as tough as they come in the backcourt.

Top Shot Blocker

Ben Wight (6'8 C / Thomas Worthington / Tar Heel Elite / 2019)

Although blocks were not accounted for in the official stats, Wight was the unquestioned leader in the league as he dominated around the basket on defense this season. At 6-foot-8 with great length and mobility, Wight is developing into a dominant force on the defensive interior.

Mr. Versatility

Jerome Hunter (6'7 SF / Pickerington North / 270 Hoopers / 2018)

Hunter had a great all-around season, finishing in the top ten in points, rebounds and assists, while playing excellent defense for six weeks. The Indiana commit takes the momentum of the fall league into what should be a dominant senior season for Hunter.
