A look at the results of the 270 Hoops Battle for the City

REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio -- Man, I don't even really know what to say other than "thank you!" For everyone that came out to the event last night, thank you for attending and helping make Central Ohio basketball what it is.

With that out of the way, let's get into the action from Reynoldsburg. As the 270 Hoops Battle for the City: Powered by Nova Village tipped off with the Buckeye Nissan Underclassmen Challenge, let's take a look at which divisions won each grade level.

Buckeye Nissan Underclassmen Challenge

2018

                                                      Champions: City League

Game 1: OCC All-Stars defeated Columbus All-Stars 71-56. Jerome Hunter and Juan Elmore with big games to lead the OCC to an opening round win.

Game 2: City League All-Stars defeated Columbus All-Stars 102-95. The City League gets off to a fast start, using its athleticism in the open floor to roll to an opening round win.

Game 3: City League All Stars defeated the OCC All-Stars 96-94 after a pair of game-winning free throws from Africentric's Tre Baumgardner. The City League win was sparked by a big second half stretch from Beechcroft's Datrey Long, who went head to head in an intriguing battle with Hunter. The City League took home the 2018 crown in a sell-out crowd on Wednesday. 

2019

Champions: OCC

Game 1: OCC All-Stars blow past the Columbus All-Stars, 94-59. The OCC backcourt of Jeremiah Francis, Jeremiah Keene and Josh Corbin were hot from the perimeter all night.

Game 2: Columbus All-Stars defeated the City League All-Stars 82-72. Columbus Academy's Chris Boyle and DeSales' Kayin Derden with breakout performances in the win.

Game 3: OCC All-Stars blow out the City League All-Stars 102-55. Francis, Corbin, Keene and especially Reynoldsburg's Ben Fort put on an absolute show. OCC wins Battle for the City while defeating its opponents by an average of 41 points. 

2020

Champions: OCC

Game 1: OCC All-Stars hang on tight against the Columbus All-Stars, 88-80. Hilliard Bradley's duo of Chris Mayfield and Matt Allocco impress despite a 35-point scoring performance from Harvest Prep's CJ Anthony. 

Game 2: City League All-Stars roll over the Columbus All-Stars 75-64. South's Marcus Johnson puts on an absolute show with 21 points and 12 rebounds. 

Game 3: OCC All-Stars win a highly-entertaining matchup over the City League All-Stars 92-78. Dublin Coffman's Dominiq Penn, Mayfield and Pickerington Central's Josiah Fulcher prove to be far too much for the City League. 

Buckeye Nissan Underclassmen All-Star Game

Champions: OCC

"We don't like layups," said OCC Underclassmen All-Star coach Azende Johnson as his team knocked down a barrage of threes in a 129-98 win over the best from the City League and rest of the area. Francis, Corbin, Keene and Hunter put on an absolute show as the OCC flexes its muscle in a star-studded matchup with the top 16 performers from the Buckeye Nissan Underclassmen Challenge.

Senior All-Star Game

Champions: OCC

In a game filled with a litany of dunks and high-level plays, the OCC rolled in convincing fashion in a 158-106 win over the Columbus All-Stars. The OCC was led by Kent State signee and Newark legend BJ Duling, who scored a game-high 26 points. All in all, eight OCC players scored in double-figures as Thomas Worthington's Christian Carter (21), Delaware's Will Yoakum (19), Groveport's Lony Francis (16), Westerville South's Anthony Mills (16), Hilliard Darby's Jose Deleon (15), Ohio Mr. Basketball and Westerville South's Kaleb Wesson (15) and Grove City's Anthony Tyree (14) each put on a show. 

The Columbus squad was led by Harvest Prep's Shaylin Waugh, who scored 17 points. Northland's Quentin Jones (16), Africentric's Landon Martin (15), Independence's Dibaji Walker (12), Hartley's Grant Smith (11) and DeSales' Abdul Kanu (11) all scored in double-figures.

The OCC takes home bragging rights in the Senior All-Star Game which will set up for an entertaining battle in this same game next spring as the City League will look to hold court after winning the 2018 crown on Wednesday.
