A look at the district semifinal action in Division I on Wednesday

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- In classic tournament fashion, Wednesday was full of fireworks in Central Ohio. While seven of the eight games went according to plan, Hilliard Davidson delivered the upset of the tournament, taking down Westerville South. Let's take a look at all the action in the area.

Travis Moore's buzzer-beater sends No. 14 Hilliard Davidson over No. 6 Westerville South

Before Wednesday, Westerville South had not lost a tournament game to a Central Ohio team in four years. All of that ended with a game-winning buzzer-beater from senior guard Travis Moore, as No. 14 Hilliard Davidson took down the defending state champions, 41-39.

The game was decided on a questionable technical foul on Kaleb Wesson, which gave Hilliard Davidson a chance to take a lead late. Hilliard Davidson would do just that, knocking out No. 6 Westerville South.

With the win, Hilliard Davidson advances to take on No. 8 St. Charles in the district finals on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. at Ohio Dominican. For Davidson, the Wildcats appear in its second-straight district final after taking down Newark in last year's district semifinals. That feat is amazing for a Davidson senior class that won just 12 games combined from 2013-15.

Dane Goodwin's career-high 43 points lead Upper Arlington over Northland in revenge game

After one of his worst performances of the season in a loss to Northland in early January, Upper Arlington junior guard Dane Goodwin would be looking for better results in the district semifinals against the Vikings.

Goodwin would get just that, pouring in a career-high 43 points in a dominant 72-46 win for No. 4 Upper Arlington over No. 5 Northland. Goodwin dropped 31 points in the first 14 minutes of the second half, burying five threes and finishing several impressive drives at the rim.

As Upper Arlington went into halftime with a 26-14 lead, the Golden Bears would dominate the second half behind Goodwin, outscoring Northland 46-32.

For Upper Arlington, Goodwin finished with 43 points and 12 rebounds. Checking out with 2:35 to go, Goodwin had five more points and as many rebounds as Northland at the time. Outside of Goodwin, junior guard Will Grabovac added 13 points, six rebounds and five assists. Starting in place of sophomore wing Max Martz, who missed Wednesday's game, senior forward Justin Whitcomb played a strong game, finishing with 10 points.

For Northland, senior center Quentin Jones led the way with 13 points. Junior wing DiShon Daniels added 10 points, while junior wing Jejuan Weatherspoon finished with eight points off the bench. No other Northland player finished with more than five points.

With the win, Upper Arlington advances to take on No. 3 Hilliard Bradley in the district finals on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Ohio Dominican. The Golden Bears will be looking to win its third district title in the last four years against a Hilliard Bradley team playing in the district finals for the first time ever.
