COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The district semifinal picture is clear after Saturday's action in Central Ohio. Let's take a look at the three games in the area on Saturday.
No. 3 Eastmoor dominated from the opening tip, executing at a high level all game long in an 86-68 win over No. 15 Independence. The Warriors received a healthy dose of offense from a variety of places, as junior wing Taevion Kinsey led all scorers with 18 points. Fellow junior wing Tariq Brown was excellent, finishing with 17 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. With the win, Eastmoor advances to take on No. 2 DeSales in the district semifinals on Tuesday.
Playing its best game of the season, No. 6 Bloom-Carroll blew past No. 11 Whitehall, as senior forward Matt Smith led all scorers with 25 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks. Senior wing guard Gavin Brown added 16 points for the Bulldogs, who advance to take on No. 5 Johnstown in the district semifinals on Tuesday.
Dominating the glass, No. 12 Bishop Watterson remained hot, shutting down No. 9 Jonathan Alder on the road in a 39-32 victory. Holding the host Pioneers to 10 points in the first and fourth quarters, Bishop Watterson started fast and finished strong to advance to its second-straight district semifinal against South, who is ranked No. 1 in Division II. Watterson will look to improve to 10-15 against a South team that comes in at 23-1.
