Taevion Kinsey hit a game-winning three to help Eastmoor upset South on Tuesday

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- History was on the line at South on Tuesday. The Bulldogs were one win away from its first City League South division title since 1988 with a chance to improve to an area-best 20-0. Eastmoor's Taevion Kinsey would be having no part in writing that script as the junior wing hit a buzzer-beating three as time expired to lead the Warriors to a 50-48 win on the road.

In a game that went back and forth nearly all night, Eastmoor survived horrid free-throw shooting late to gut out the tough win. As the final frame offered a litany of lead changes and ties, Eastmoor would have the final say. Inbounding the ball with 13.7 seconds remaining and trailing 48-47, Eastmoor would be looking for a hero to step up in a hostile environment.

Kinsey would be that hero, as the 6-foot-4 guard drove right down the sideline, pulling up from nearly out of bounds to bury a three at the buzzer. Leading Eastmoor to a crucial 50-48 win, Kinsey's buzzer-beater also forces a tie atop the City League South.

Kinsey led all scorers with 20 points, hitting big shot after big shot all night for the Warriors. Outside of Kinsey, junior forward Tim Smith added 10 points and 10 rebounds for Eastmoor off the bench, while no other EA player scored in double-figures. By our count, Eastmoor shot just 8-of-26 at the free throw line on Tuesday, despite pulling out the win.

For South, senior forward Dez Robinson was the heart and soul of the Bulldogs on Tuesday, finishing with 12 points and 15 rebounds. Robinson owned the glass in the second half, giving South a variety of second-chance shots at the rim. Sophomore guard Treohn Watkins added 12 points as well, while senior forward Max Jackson pitched in eight points, six of which in the fourth quarter.

With the win, Eastmoor improves to 15-5 on the season and 12-1 in league play. The Warriors will look to finish off a split of a division title on Friday at home vs. Briggs. For South, the Bulldogs will look to get back to its winning ways against West on Friday.

Both 12-1 in league play, South and Eastmoor can split the division if both teams are to win on Friday. However, due to City League rules, the team with a longer division title drought is awarded the tie breaker, which would send South to play Northland on Feb. 18 at Africentric.
