The top two teams in Central Ohio (and maybe Ohio) square off on Tuesday

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Goliath vs. Goliath. Heavyweight vs. Heavyweight. Giant vs. Giant. Call it whatever you want, but Tuesday night's mega-matchup between No. 1 Westerville South (8-0) and No. 2 Pickerington Central (7-0) is enormous.

Each team comes in undefeated and on a roll. Westerville South is still riding high after knocking off prep powerhouse Huntington Prep on Dec. 22, while Pickerington Central has defeated every opponent by an average of 22.3 points per game. Riding high on success, something will have to give on Tuesday night between two teams that have looked invincible in the first quarter of the season.

What things should we look for in tonight's matchup? Let's take a look at our game preview below.

Keys to the Game

Balanced Scoring

Westerville South will need a healthy dose of scoring from its entire supporting cast to knock off Pickerington Central. The Wildcats received just that when they dispatched a lengthy and talented Huntington Prep team that somewhat mirrors the Tigers. In that game, senior role players Jake Garrison and Cameron Caldwell each scored 16 points, which played a huge role considering fellow seniors Anthony Mills and Antoine Smith combined for less than 20 points. You know Kaleb Wesson is going to give you all he has, but it will depend on what his teammates produce that will determine how good South will be tonight.

The Big Man Matchup

Kaleb Wesson vs. Sterling Manley is everything we have been waiting for. Since 270 Hoops has launched, this is the first matchup to feature the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the power rankings and the No. 1 and No. 2 player head-to-head in the player rankings. With Wesson of Westerville South and Manley of Pickerington Central, we get just that. The first big man to get in foul trouble will make a difference, as neither team has a matchup for the other's talented center on the bench. We are hoping for this to be a slugfest for all 32 minutes between the best two front court players in Central Ohio.

Turnovers

Turnovers given and receive will play a huge factor. In Westerville South's narrow victory at Gahanna early in the year, the Wildcats failed to take care of the ball, which resulted in an abundance of easy points for the Lions. Tonight, Pickerington Central is bigger, better and more athletic than Gahanna, which could result in easy points for the Tigers if Westerville South doesn't take care of the ball. Pickerington Central thrives on the transition game and causing havoc, which aids into the type of energy that the Tigers play best at. Westerville South can limit that type of Pickerington Central momentum by taking care of the ball and executing in the half court.

Keys to the Game

Guard Play

Pickerington Central has one of, if not the best backcourt in Central Ohio between sophomore guard Jeremiah Francis, senior guard Jalen Horton and reserve freshman Josiah Fulcher. With all types of scoring and playmaking ability coming from the three J's, Pickerington Central will need a strong night out of the trio. Francis has been the man to control the tempo and pace for Pickerington Central, showing an ability to take over when needed, and gives the Tigers a steady presence when situations are tense. Horton has excelled off the ball, knocking down shots and applying pressure defensively, while sparring Francis any time he needs to be taken out of the game. The x-factor, however, could be the freshman Fulcher, who has come in and knocked down big threes in Pickerington Central's biggest wins in the area this year, knocking down six threes combined in wins over Pickerington North and Groveport. If Fulcher can get going off the bench, look for that to get Pickerington Central rolling and give the Tigers the confidence they need to knock off Westerville South.

Juan Elmore

While unheralded, Elmore has been as important to this Pickerington Central team as nearly anyone. The junior forward has rebounded the ball like a mad man this season, giving the Tigers plenty of second-chance looks, while also being able to defend nearly any position given his versatility on that end. Elmore has made big plays in the Tigers' biggest games and will need to come up big on Tuesday. Elmore did not score in the Tigers' regional semifinal loss to Westerville South last season, but was defended by Kaleb Wesson all game. That will not happen on Tuesday, which could be a big reason Pickerington Central can win on the road.

Composure

Pickerington Central is young, but not short on confidence. The Tigers will need to stay within themselves in a hostile environment and their first game all season where they are seemingly the underdog. The Tigers will have to not let Westerville South speed them up and build an early lead, something the Wildcats did last season in the regional tournament. We could see Pickerington Central doing just that, as a few early perimeter makes could give the Tigers the rhythm and pace they need to start off strong.

Top Matchups

Kaleb Wesson vs. Sterling Manley

6-foot-10 center vs. 6-foot-11 center. Ohio State vs. North Carolina. All-Ohio Red vs. King James. It just doesn't get better than this.

Anthony Mills vs. Jeremiah Francis

The steady senior vs. the star sophomore. Flashy vs. flashy. Bravado vs. bulldog. The point guard matchup will be fun to watch.

Antoine Smith vs. Adrian Nelson

This might just end up being the critical matchup of the night. Wing forward vs. wing forward. Both can score in a variety of ways, as Smith can get really hot from deep, while Nelson is a devastating slasher on the baseline. Whichever of the pair has the better game might come away with the win.
