COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Dublin Coffman freshman point guard Dominiq Penn becomes the first freshman to win the GNC: Beat Average Player of the Week, after garnering 38 percent of the 3,200 votes.
Penn takes home the honors after back-to-back performances on Dec. 16 and 17 where he averaged 19.5 points per game, leading the Rocks to two wins on the road at Westland and Kettering Archbishop Alter.
The freshman floor general is off to a terrific start to the season, averaging 18.8 points per game through five games. Penn has scored in double figures in all five games, highlighted by 28 points vs. Toledo Start to open the season.
