COLUMBUS, Ohio -- In a high-scoring night of basketball, several players put up record numbers on Tuesday. Let's take a look at Tuesday's scoring leaders.
Performance: 35 points vs. Hilliard Darby
Vertolli went off for the second game in a row, dropping 35 points against Hilliard Darby. However, also for the second game in a row, Dublin Scioto was not able to pull out a victory despite Vertolli's big-time scoring efforts (he had 28 against Canal Winchester last Saturday). Vertolli is currently third in the area in scoring, averaging 23 points per game.
Performance: 33 points vs. Worthington Kilbourne
Allocco had the biggest scoring performance that we can remember out of a freshman in at least the last decade, dropping 33 points to lead Hilliard Bradley in a tough division win at Worthington Kilbourne. Allocco is starting to get into a groove several games into his freshman season, scoring 50 points in the last two games alone. Allocco is averaging 13 points per game through six games this season.
Performance: 30 points vs. Thomas Worthington
Yoakum went absolutely nuts in a tight win over Thomas Worthington, scoring 30 of Delaware's 47 points. 20 of Yoakum's 30 points came in the fourth quarter and overtime, as the West Liberty commit took over to lead Delaware to a big win at home. Yoakum's 30 points is a season high, as he is currently averaging 19 points per game.
Performance: 30 points vs. Lancaster
Moore scored a career-high 30 points to lead Hilliard Davidson over Lancaster on the road Tuesday. Moore dropped 30 points on six three-point field goals, as the Cats picked up a big win away from home to get back on track. Through five games, Moore is currently averaging 14.2 points per contest.
Performance: 29 points vs. Whetstone
The leading scorer in the City League, East's Curtis was at it again on Tuesday, going for 29 points to lead the Tigers over Whetstone. Curtis has single-handedly put East on his back to a 3-3 record this season, as he is the only Tiger scorer averaging more than 6.5 points per game. Through Tuesday, Curtis was averaging a City League-best 21.8 points per game.
