Worthington Kilbourne senior guard Gabe Watson dropped 36 points on Friday

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- In a loaded night of action in Central Ohio, several players stepped up with big scoring performances. Let's take a look at the top scorers on the night.

1. Gabe Watson (Sr. PG, Worthington Kilbourne)

Performance: 36 points vs. Hilliard Darby

Recap: Watson exploded for a career-high 36 points in a tough win over Hilliard Darby. One of Central Ohio's best senior point guards, Watson is on a mission to not only establish himself among the top floor generals around, but also lead Worthington Kilbourne to an OCC title. Performances like Friday's will do just that.

2. Lony Francis (Sr. PF, Groveport)

Performance: 30 points, 11 rebounds vs. Canal Winchester

Recap: Francis scored a career-high 30 points and added 11 rebounds in a dominant showing vs. Canal Winchester. Leading Groveport to its sixth win of the year, Francis has been a major part of the Cruisers' undefeated start to the season.

3. Nick Carlson (Jr. F, Dublin Coffman)

Performance: 30 points vs. Westland

Recap: Prior to the season, Dublin Coffman coach Jamey Collins believed Carlson had a chance to be one of the program's most talented scorers in recent memory. Carlson showed exactly that on Friday, going off for a career-high 30 points in a Rocks' win at Westland. With a relatively young and unproven lineup, Carlson will have to continue to score in bunches to help Coffman compete at the top of the OCC-Central.

4. CJ Penha (Jr. SF, Harvest Prep)

Performance: 29 points vs. Grove City Christian

Recap: Getting our first-ever look at the 6-foot-5 Penha on Friday, we were extremely impressed by the junior's ability to put the ball in the bucket. With great length and versatility, Penha scored from all three levels on Friday, knocking down five threes and out-muscling the opposition underneath. Penha is a name to remember in 2018.

5. Danny Corbett (Sr. PG, Briggs)

Performance: 25 points vs. West

Recap: One thing that Corbett just does not do is lose to rival West. Putting up 25 points vs. the Cowboys on Friday, Corbett was at the top of his game in leading Briggs to a 77-57 win. Corbett will have to score like he did on Friday to give Briggs a chance to compete at the top of the City League South.

6. Dane Goodwin (Jr. SG, Upper Arlington)

Performance: 24 points vs. Hilliard Davidson

Recap: The area's leading scorer was at it again on Friday, going for 24 points to lead Upper Arlington over Hilliard Davidson. Goodwin scored 24 of UA's 44 points on the night, helping the Golden Bears avenge a slow start. Goodwin is averaging 27.3 points per game this season.

7. Brandon Baker (Sr. SG, Grove City Christian)

Performance: 24 points vs. Harvest Prep

Recap: Baker was the key for Grove City Christian in a first half rally after the Eagles trailed by as much as 19 points. Leading GCC to a huge win on the road, every one of Baker's 24 points were much-needed, as the senior wing provided the Eagles with the inside finishing ability that it needed. Baker is currently fourth in the area in scoring at 22.8 points per game.
