COLUMBUS, Ohio -- In the final matchup of the night at the Clark Kellogg Classic at Ohio Dominican University, Columbus City League power Northland Vikings hosted perennial Northeast Ohio juggernaut Cleveland Villa Angela-St. Joseph in a game that showcased tons of collegiate talent across the floor.

As anticipated, it was a close outcome but Northland was able to come out victorious, beating VASJ 57-49.

Both teams played a fast tempo, tough nosed defense style of basketball. Northland was able to take control early, as they led 31-20 at the half.

During the course of the second half, VASJ at points flashed capability to overwhelm Northland with their ball movement, but not enough was done to take down Northland in the end.

Northland couldn't have done it without the efforts of their whole team across the board. Leading the way for the Vikings was 6-foot-7 senior Quentin Jones, who tallied 12 points and collected six rebounds in tonight's contest.

Also contributing for Northland was junior Jejuan Weatherspoon, who accounted for 12 points and four rebounds. Senior point guard Brandon Waugh had a great night running the point and distributing the ball, as he finished with 13 points.

For VASJ, 6-foot-8 sophomore star Alonzo Gaffney led the charge for the opposing Vikings, as he contributed 12 points and 13 rebounds to his team's efforts.

Northland is off until a highly-anticipated matchup against Beechcroft on Dec. 13. The two favorites in the City League North, Northland's next game could mean major things going forward in the division.

For now, Northland can rest on its laurels with a win over a team that has made four-consecutive trips to the state final four.
