Antwon Hampton's 21 points leads Central Crossing over Franklin Heights on the road

Central Crossing junior guard Antwon Hampton scored 21 points on Thursday

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- After a very sloppy first half, Central Crossing pulled away in the final two quarters in a win at district rival Franklin Heights on Thursday. Central Crossing junior guard Antwon Hampton led all scorers with 21 points, leading the Comets to a 62-48 win on the road.

Going neck and neck for the first two quarters, Central Crossing held a slim 23-20 halftime lead after a sloppy first half. It was in a 25-point third quarter that the Comets pulled away, as Hampton scored nine of his 21 points in the frame alone.

Leading 48-33 after three quarters, Central Crossing prevented any rally from Franklin Heights, cruising in the final frame to a 62-48 win.

Outside of Hampton's 21 points and eight rebounds, Central Crossing got solid scoring performances from junior wing Mike Woods and sophomore big Dan Ewald, who scored 12 points and seven points, respectively. Junior center Camron Parsley added six points off the bench.

For Franklin Heights, the Falcons struggled offensively for most of the night, with no player in double figures. Sophomore guard Cody Little had the most solid of performances, finishing with nine points and seven rebounds off the bench. Senior guard Jaysean Potts and senior forward Jason Martinez each added eight points, while junior guard Kesean Reeves and junior wing Mikahl Mosley had seven points each.

With the win, Central Crossing improves to 1-0 on the season and takes on Hilliard Darby on Tuesday. 

For Franklin Heights, the Falcons will look to notch its first win of the season on Friday vs. Granville.
