Gahanna SF Jordan Mitchell is No. 1 in 2019

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- In a class dominated by Gahanna's Jordan Mitchell and Pickerington Central's Jeremiah Francis at the top, 2019 has quite the firepower among its elite. That class took a hit earlier in the fall, when former No. 3 overall prospect and 6-foot-9 power forward Taylor Currie moved to Michigan.

However, 2019 would recover, as wing prospects Max Martz, William Mfum and Josh Corbin offer lots of promise, while lead guard Jeremiah Keene is as good as they come.

Let's take a look behind the rankings in 2019. Check out the entire 2019 rankings here.

Top Prospects

1. Jordan Mitchell (6'7 SF / Gahanna)

At No. 1 is the five-tool Gahanna wing prospect Jordan Mitchell. We've often called him a Rolls Royce prospect (a term first coined by Kurt Stubbs), as Mitchell is as elite as they come. Whether you look at his great length at 6-foot-7, fluidity in his movement on the floor, or his high feel and IQ for the game, Mitchell has it all. With the physical tools to be a high-major plus type talent, Mitchell will have to develop a killer instinct to take over games, which we see him doing this winter. Mitchell holds offers from Ohio State, Xavier, Iowa and Florida, while bigger schools like Indiana and Kentucky have shown interest.

2. Jeremiah Francis (6'2 PG / Pickerington Central)

At No. 2 is the do-it-all point guard Jeremiah Francis. A man's man at point, Francis plays with a certain level of physicality and toughness that is elite for his age. Francis is also an elite ball-handler who can break a defense down on his own, while having the finishing ability inside to score tough buckets against anyone. Francis' jump-shooting has continued to improve, which will make him an even more dangerous offensive threat once it becomes consistent. With the vision and passing ability to be a force from all angles of the position, Francis has emerged as one of the country's top 10 lead guards in his class, as he holds offers from West Virginia, Purdue, TCU, Ohio and Detroit.

3. Max Martz (6'4 SG/SF / Upper Arlington)

Moving up to No. 3 is Upper Arlington wing guard Max Martz. The son of former Nebraska basketball standout Mike Martz, the apple has not fallen far from the tree for the younger Martz. Max Martz has great length at 6-foot-4, as he looks to not be done growing yet, but it is his feel for the game that might be most impressive. Already a knockdown shooter with great touch, Martz is very good at creating his own shot, both with and without the ball, which will translate to the next level. We see Martz stepping up and having a huge season alongside Dane Goodwin, as Upper Arlington will be one of the area's five best teams this winter. Martz holds one offer from Western Carolina, while Big Ten schools like Ohio State, Nebraska and Northwestern are starting to show interest.

4. Jeremiah Keene (6'2 PG / Westerville North)

Staying at No. 4 is Westerville North point guard Jeremiah Keene. Arguably the top scorer in the class, Keene can get buckets in bunches from all over. A deadly shooter from the perimeter, Keene has the quickness and athleticism to take defenders off the dribble and finish strongly at the rim. While more of a pure scorer than point guard at this time, Keene has a chance to put up big numbers this season for Westerville North, who will need everything he can give them. Without an offer at the moment, Keene has been tracked heavily by some of the region's top high-major programs including Ohio State, Xavier and Notre Dame, among others.

5. William Mfum (6'2 SG / Northland)

At No. 5 is Northland super athlete William Mfum. While one of the youngest players in the class, Mfum does not play like it, as the supremely cut 6-foot-2 wing guard puts on an airshow at the rim. Able to get to the rim and finish athletically, Mfum does not get all the way caught up in his elite athleticism and dunking abilities, unlike many elite-level athletes. Mfum has worked hard at improving his skill set, which has developed into a deadly pull-up jumper that Mfum is able to get off against most any defender. While without an offer, Mfum is being recruited by Bethune-Cookman, Bowling Green, Cleveland State and Ohio.
