Week 2 of Coach Vic's looks to be better than ever

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Week Two of Coach Vic's Weekly Showcase is just two days away, and it appears to be better than ever. While the opening weekend lost several top players due to elite camps taking place across the country, those elite level guys will be back for week two. Let's take a look at this week's event preview for Coach Vic's Weekly Showcase.

Columbus Team 1

Name Height Position School Year
Jeremiah Francis 6'3 PG Pickerington Central 2019
Antwon Hampton 6'3 SG Central Crossing 2018
Dondre Palmer 6'4 SF Pickerington North 2018
Eli McNamara 6'8 PF Pickerington North 2018
Kaleb Wesson 6'10 C Westerville South 2017

Columbus Team 1 is a talented bunch, led by the duo of Kaleb Wesson and Jeremiah Francis, who are the top players at their positions in their respective classes. Hampton, Palmer and McNamara round out a talented supporting cast that will begin play on the main court against a stellar Cincinnati squad.

Team Cincinnati

Name Height Position School Year
Andre Gordon 6'0 PG Sidney 2019
Alex Dahling 6'4 SG Cincinnati Summit Country Day 2017
Jeff Thomas 6'6 SF Georgia State Univ. Soph
Malek Green 6'6 PF Cincinnati Taftt 2017
Darius Bazley 6'8 SF Cincinnati Princeton 2018

Team Cincinnati might be the most talented unit in the entire event, as Andre Gordon, Darius Bazley and Jeff Thomas form a dominant trio. Surrounding those guys with the sharp-shooting marksman Alex Dahling and the high-motor Malek Green make this a death squad of a starting five.

Columbus Team 2

Name Height Position School Year
Zach Watson 6'0 PG Dublin Jerome 2017
William Mfum 6'2 SG Northland 2019
Cameron Brooks-Harris 6'6 SF Zanesville 2017
Jerome Hunter 6'7 PF Pickerington North 2018
Caden Sanchez 6'9 PF DeSales 2017

Columbus Team 2 is a solid squad with talent and balance across all positions. Zach Watson is as sound as they come as a lead guard, while William Mfum and Cameron Brooks-Harris will combine for an elite-level athletic duo on the wings. Jerome Hunter and Caden Sanchez form for a very strong front line.

Columbus Team 3

Name Height Position School Year
David Dennis 6'2 PG West Liberty Univ. Soph
Josh Corbin 6'3 SG Gahanna 2019
Will Yoakum 6'5 SF Delaware Hayes 2017
Taylor Currie 6'9 PF Worthington Christian 2019
Doug Taylor 6'8 C Ohio University Soph

Columbus Team 3 is yet another very strong squad, headlined by the college guard-big duo of David Dennis and Doug Taylor. In between, this team has talented shooters in Josh Corbin and Will Yoakum, a Coach Vic's Hall of Famer, while the 6-foot-9 sophomore Taylor Currie is one of Ohio's absolute best prospects in his class.

Columbus Team 4

Name Height Position School Year
Anthony Mills 6'2 PG Westerville South 2017
Jakim Murphy 6'2 SG Newark 2017
Jalen Tate 6'6 SF Northern Kentucky Univ Frosh
Tavon Brown 6'8 PF St. Charles 2017
Dylan Swingle 6'10 C Chillicothe Paint Valley 2018

Yet again, another very talented starting five for a Columbus unit. The headliner here is Paint Valley center Dylan Swingle, who makes his Coach Vic's debut on Sunday. Surrounding Swingle is a lengthy and athletic unit, including Coach Vic's Mt. Rushmore member Jalen Tate, the bouncy Jakim Murphy and two of 2017's best prospects in Anthony Mills and Tavon Brown.

Team NW Ohio

Name Height Position School Year
Evan Berning 6'0 PG Fort Loramie 2018
Dillon Braun 6'0 SG Fort Loramie 2018
Justin Ahrens 6'5 SF Versailles 2018
Brady Wildermuth 6'6 PF Jackson Center 2017
Mark Mayle 6'9 C Malvern 2018

Team NW Ohio will be a very sound and cohesive unit, led by the Fort Loramie backcourt of Evan Berning and Dillon Braun. The headliner on this squad is the 6-foot-5 swing man Justin Ahrens, who was one of the very best performers this summer in AAU across the entire state. Ahrens is joined by King James teammate Mark Mayle, while Findlay commit Brady Wildermuth provides a post presence that can also stretch the floor and shoot.

Columbus Team 5

Name Height Position School Year
Antonio Watson 5'9 PG New Albany 2018
Ben Fort 6'2 SG Reynoldsburg 2019
Adrian Nelson 6'6 SF Pickerington Central 2018
Dustin Harder 6'9 PF Wellington 2017
Lony Francis 6'7 C Groveport-Madison 2017

Columbus Team 5 is assembled of young, rising Central Ohio prospects with upside. Starting in the backcourt, New Albany's Antonio Watson is a rising point guard who has been well-traveled this summer. Watson is joined in the backcourt by Reynoldsburg's rising sophomore Ben Fort, while Pickerington Central's Adrian Nelson is the man on the wing. In the front court, Dustin Harder and Lony Francis combine for a lenghty and athletic front court that should be pretty successful.

Team Toledo

Name Height Position School Year
Ketaan Wyatt Jr 6'1 PG Toledo Rogers 2020
Alontay Gould 6'2 SG Toledo Scott 2017
TQ Belcher 6'2 SF Toledo Rogers 2017
Robert Brown 6'6 PF Cincinnati Walnut Hills 2017
Khiry Shelton 6'9 C Hargrave Military Academy 2017

Team Toledo begins with the talented backcourt of Ketaan Wyatt Jr., the lone 2020 prospect in the event, and Alontay Gould, a talented scorer who played at Toledo Scott last year. On the wing, Rogers' TQ Belcher mans the perimeter, while Robert Brown and Khiry Shelton form for a large front court.

Columbus Team 6

Name Height Position School Year
Jaedyn Carter 6'0 PG Thomas Worthington 2018
Christian Carter 6'2 SG Thomas Worthington 2017
Nate Ward 6'5 SF Gahanna 2018
Quentin Jones 6'8 PF Northland 2017
Tyjuan Childers 6'7 C Whitehall 2018

Columbus Team 6 is a group of underrated, but high-energy players that should be able to compete. With the Carter brothers in the backcourt, this team should play with a high motor, while Nate Ward has been one of the highest energy players in the event. In the front court, Quentin Jones and Tyjuan Childers combine for a massive front line.
