A look at the standouts from Day 1 at Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- In one of our absolute favorite events of the summer, the 2016 Ohio State Team Camp played host to several top teams in Central Ohio on Friday. With the 2018 and 2019 classes on full display, let's take a look at some of the day's top performers.

Jakim Murphy (6'2 SG - Newark - 2017):

The day's top breakout performer, Murphy, a bouncy rising senior at Newark, more than rose to the occasion in a blowout win over rival Gahanna. Scoring 17 points off the bench, Murphy was a force to be reckoned with driving from the wing, and on the glass, as he helped provide a spark to get Newark going in the first half. A player that has paid his dues and waited his turn to help out the Wildcats program, we could see a breakout senior season in the forecast for a player that is as athletic as they come in the 2017 class.

Jordan Mitchell (6'7 SF - Gahanna - 2019):

With the entire Ohio State on hand to check out Mitchell against Newark on Friday, the 6-foot-7 rising sophomore wing did not disappoint. A five-tool player that gets it done on both ends of the floor, Mitchell led Gahanna in scoring on Friday, finishing several impressive drives to the basket. Picking up an offer from Florida last weekend, Mitchell's stock is just beginning to blow, as he could reasonably have an offer by every top program in the nation when it's all said and done - he's that good.

Antwon Hampton (6'2 SG - Central Crossing - 2018):

Leading Central Crossing to a hard-fought win over a tough Tri-Valley team, Hampton was the game's top scorer, going for 17 points. Getting to the rack with authority and knocking down enough perimeter shots to keep the defense honest, Hampton continued to build on what has been a standout last eight months for the rising junior wing. Developing into one of Central Ohio's all-around best players in the 2018 class, Hampton is on a mission to bring Central Crossing's basketball to relevance.

Jake McLoughlin (6'5 PF - Tri-Valley - 2018):

Dominating the interior in the matchup vs. Central Crossing, McLoughlin was a force inside, scoring tough buckets from close range and swatting anything that came near him. Gaining more toughness to a skill set that was already hardened to begin with, McLoughlin appears to have benefitted from playing in the EYBL with All-Ohio Red, as he nearly drug Tri-Valley to a win by himself. Look for McLoughlin, who has started for the Scotties since his freshman season, to have a big junior year.

Adrian Nelson (6'6 SF - Pickerington Central - 2018):

Since returning from injury a little over a month ago, Nelson has been spectacular and much was the same on Friday. A lengthy wing that can contribute both on the wing and in the paint, Nelson was the game's top rebounder in our only viewing of him, and reportedly dunked hard on a defender in a later scrimmage on Friday. Adding some height to his already lengthy frame, Nelson is a skilled combo-forward that we think could really blossom this upcoming season.

Jerome Hunter (6'7 SF - Pickerington North - 2018):

Fresh off a visit to the University of Florida for the Gators' elite camp last weekend, Hunter brought the Sunshine State warmth with him, heating up from around the basket on Friday. Becoming one of the area's most aggressive players when he gets the ball, Hunter has been nothing short of spectacular since a breakout game in the sectional finals last winter vs. Westerville North. Since that point, the 6-foot-7 wing has played with a mentality that he is the best on the floor at any given moment, and it has really paid off for him.

BJ Duling (6'6 SF - Newark - 2017):

The Kent State commit was one of the top prospects overall on Friday, getting it done all over the floor for Newark. A hire-wire act around the rim, Duling has always been one of the area's best all-around athletes, but since transferring to Newark, his craftiness around the basket has really stood out. Providing a daunting presence in the interior, Duling is a key cog on a Wildcats team that will be one of the three best in Central Ohio this winter. Developing a consistent motor, Duling has a chance to really dominate as a senior.

Wilt Marine (6'0 SG - Central Crossing - 2017):

The import from rival Westland, Marine played well in our only viewing of him, giving Central Crossing some scoring on the wing. Knocking down pull-up jumpers and perimeter shots, Marine might be that additional scoring piece in the backcourt that the Comets need to contend in the top half of the OCC-Central. After a fairly successful sophomore season at Westland in 2014-15, Marine missed most of last season after transferring schools mid-season, but we think he has a chance to really help the Comets this upcoming winter.

Jeremiah Francis (6'2 PG - Pickerington Central - 2019):

The physical 6-foot-2 rising sophomore guard that looks more like an SEC running back was terrific once again on Friday. Francis, who had an integral part on a district title winning Pickerington Central team this past season, has looked to have dropped a little bit of weight, and has continued to develop as an all-around point guard. Knocking down shots and making crisp passes all over the floor, Francis further cemented his place as the area's top point guard - regardless of class.

Jah Blevins (6'3 SF - Pickerington Central - 2018):

Blevins spent last season winning a Division II state title at New Concord John Glenn, and was rumored to have enrolled at Zanesville for this upcoming school year, but was playing with Pickerington Central on Friday. A long and athletic wing that impacts the game on both ends of the floor, Blevins has a terrific motor and can knock down shots from the perimeter. If Blevins does indeed end up at Pickerington Central, the Tigers could have a chance to win the region once rising senior big man Sterling Manley returns to the lineup.

Jake Fischer (6'4 SG - Bishop Hartley - 2017):

Fischer had a solid evening, going for 17 points, five rebounds and five assists in a tough win over a very good Massillon Jackson team missing Kyle Young. Fischer has been one of the area's top shooters for years, but has worked to develop his all-around offensive game, and will be relied upon to score in bunches for a Hartley team looking to contend in the Central Catholic League.
