A look at the top performers from Tuesday night's game

DUBLIN, Ohio -- Olentangy Orange remained undefeated and handed host Dublin Jerome a 55-45 defeat on Tuesday night.

There were a noticeable amount of college coaches on hand, which makes sense when it's considered that both rosters have a strong selection of players that will play at the next level.

Below, we highlight the top performers with some prospect scouting notes.

Editor's Note: Olentangy Orange once again received top performances from their seniors Jordan Edwards, Elias Lewis and Mikey McCollum. All three players were featured in last week's Prospect Scouting Report in their win against St. Charles. You can read that report here:  https://www.270hoops.com/news_article/show/1249580

Jordan Edwards is committed to Ashland, while Mikey McCollum is committed to Hillsdale College.

Nick Chapman (6'5 Wing / Olentangy Orange / 2023) If you read the 5 Keys to the Game, you'll see that Chapman earned Hustle Player of the Game and that's in part for his excellent defensive effort. At 6'5, Chapman used his extensive wingspan to his advantage, as he pulled off three clean blocks that took place inside the paint and on a mid-range jumper. Beyond the swats, Chapman would use his long arms to disrupt passing lanes and took a charge late in the fourth quarter that helped seal the victory. Offensively, the senior scored 11 points and has a nice touch inside and outside the arc. In two games we've scouted Orange this season, Chapman has connected on three triples, which shows a range that compliments his length. One area of improvement that will take time for Chapman is to gain some strength. He has a thin frame and on a couple occasions, he passed up some inside looks, that perhaps he would be more confident given a bigger build. The season is young, but Chapman has already made an impact for the Pioneers and should be on the radar for area Division III programs that value size and an ability to shoot.

Luke Kuhlman (6'4 Wing / Dublin Jerome / 2023) The lead scorer of the evening, Kuhlman is perhaps Jerome's most versatile offensive weapon. He's not only the tallest player that sees the court, but he's the best outside shooter as well. His three made triples came from multiple spots, with his first one a foot or two behind the arc. Although not an elite ball-handler, Kuhlman showed an ability to put the ball on the floor and finish through traffic, which happened on his final six points of the fourth quarter. Not only does Kuhlman have some length, but he has some decent upper body strength as well. Kuhlman has an offer from Thomas More University and has received attention from other regional Division II programs. Ultimately, Kuhlman is one of the best unsigned players from the area in the 2023 class and should ideally find a place that fits him best, whether that's Division II or a high-performing Division III program

Lachlan MacDonald (6'1 Guard / Dublin Jerome / 2023) It's not hyperbole to say MacDonald is one of the best guard defenders in Dublin Jerome history. He's the program's all-time and single season steal record holder and that tenacity was on display Tuesday. While he only recorded one steal himself, he forced other turnovers, most notably a come-from-behind poke that gave the Celtics points off turnovers. While defense is his bread and butter, MacDonald has a savvy enough offensive game to keep defenses honest, as he connected on two three point attempts Tuesday and scored nine points. The senior did struggle to finish around the rim, but had a relentlessness that kept him fighting for offensive rebounds and loose ball opportunities. MacDonald has an offer from Ohio Dominican, but should be a huge priority for high academic programs, regardless of division, as he holds over a 4.0 GPA and scored a 32 on the ACT. That's evidence that MacDonald works hard on and off the court. If your program values those attributes, the Celtic guard is worth your time.
