A look at the top performers from Tuesday's game

LEWIS CENTER, Ohio -- In what was anticipated to be a competitive non-league match between Olentangy Orange and St. Charles turned into a blowout 68-46 win for the Pioneers.

Let's take a look at the performers from Tuesday's action.

Jordan Edwards (6'4 PG / Olentangy Orange / 2023) There was much to appreciate from the entire Orange team, but nothing stood out quite like Edwards' passing ability. The Ashland commit was in a giving mood and handed out dimes like it was charity. Edwards tallied nine assists total, with most of those makes coming from beyond the arc. At 6'4 and 190 pounds, Edwards has great size for his position. He showcased solid handles that with his size, allowed him to beat his defender off the dribble and get in the lane. Once he was met by a helping defender, Edwards almost always found an open man. Although he struggled to get into rhythm with his outside shooting, Edwards would effectively use his size and strength to get some finishes around the rim. Edwards also was committed defensively, as he showed initiative to challenge the St. Charles ballhandlers as soon as they crossed half court. Edwards' combination of size and vision makes him a top point guard in the area.

Mikey McCollum (6'3  Hybrid Guard / Olentangy Orange / 2023) On a team that features multiple talented individuals with a range of skillsets, McCollum may be the most complete player out of them all. A straight up bucket-getter, the Hillsdale College commit is the type of player that could give work in just about any open gym in the country. McCollum does a good job of using his arms and body to shield off defenders and finishes well around the rim. He also connected on a three-point attempt, as he's shown in the past his ability to hit from long range. Just as important, McCollum takes pride on the defensive end and was seen flying through passing lanes and diving for loose balls, even as Orange's lead was in a comfortable place. Simply put, McCollum is a winner.

Elias Lewis (6'2 SG / Olentangy Orange / 2023) While the forementioned top performers already made their college commitments, Lewis is one of the area's best unsigned seniors. A versatile player in his own right, Lewis is Orange's best spot-up shooter and tallied 13 total points. At 6'2, Lewis is an above average athlete and was a part of the night's most impressive play when he finished an alley-oop lob from Edwards. Lewis has an ability to score from just about any spot on the court and also takes his defensive role seriously. Lewis checks out as a solid prospect at the Division III level and could potentially attract attention from various Division II and NAIA programs. The Pioneers have a legitimate chance for a district title and beyond. The better Lewis plays, the more likely they will be destined for postseason success.
