We release our first power rankings in Division II this season

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- With the opening weekend of high school basketball passing us by, let's take a look at our first Division II power rankings of the year.

1. Bishop Watterson (0-0): An extended football season has Watterson out for this week. This team has been gearing up for this season. We are excited to see what they can do this year with a loaded group of seniors returning.

2. Bishop Ready (1-0): New to Division II, Ready started off on the right foot with a big win against Lancaster last weekend. The Silver Knights have two challenging road games this week at Bloom-Carroll and Briggs looming.

3. Granville (0-0): The Blue Aces are one of the favorites in the Licking County League this year. They'll be tested in a major way right out of the gate with matchups at Upper Arlington and at home against Bishop Hartley and Tri-Valley this week.

4. Bishop Hartley (0-0): The Andreas James era begins with a top three road matchup at Granville. If the young Hawks can pick up a road win like that to begin the year, it'll be a sign of good things to come for the new Hartley program.

5. Linden-McKinley (0-0): The only defending district champ left in D2 after Heath drops a division, the new-look Panthers will be tested majorly this week. A road date at Hilliard Davidson to start the week and a home matchup against crosstown foe Eastmoor Academy to end it.

6. Bexley (2-0): Bexley swept through its opening week, going 2-0 against Independence and Logan. They'll be tested twice in league play this week against Worthington Christian and Columbus Academy. We will know quickly if the Lions are for real or not.

7. Eastmoor Academy (0-0): The Warriors lost their front court size to graduation but they still have a stockpile of quality guards. We'll see if EA is as tough as usual when they play on the road at Linden on Saturday.

8. Marion-Franklin (1-1): It's been a long time coming since Marion-Franklin was in the top 10. It's beautiful to see, honestly. The Red Devils picked up a quality road win over Centennial on Wednesday, which was boosted with the Stars' win over Whitehall on Saturday. MF is off this week before City League play opens up next week.

9. Centennial (1-1): Centennial hangs on to a top 10 ranking after its quality win over Whitehall on Saturday. The Stars can keep rising if they are to go on the road and knock off South this week.

10. River Valley (0-0): One of the top favorites in the MOAC, the high scoring Vikings will begin the year with two road matchups this week at Olentangy Berlin and Clear Fork. A win over Berlin would be a tremendous resume-booster for River Valley at season's end.
