A look at some of the top performers from this past weekend's Nike Cup

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The AAU trail brought me to FieldHouse USA where the All-Ohio Nike Cup took place. With five courts right next to each other, I was able to watch some high-level hoops and check out some exciting prospects. In this article, I will recap some top performances throughout the two days of basketball.

Gavin Headings/2023/All Ohio Select 17U/Pickerington Central

The 6 foot 8 big put on an impressive display and showed off his true inside-out game. He was able to score on the block with a post hook and drained a nice turnaround fadeaway. Headings commanded the boards and pulled down double-digit rebounds. Headings finished with 10 points for a double-double. He also showed a nice ability to take the ball up the floor and initiate offense without having to find a guard. He also hit a pull-up jumper off the bounce which is rare to see for a player of his size. He was able to move on the perimeter to defend guards and also did a great contesting at the rim while coming up with three blocks. Headings is a mismatch nightmare and can gain a lot of interest this summer.

Kyler D’Augustino/2023/Mid Ohio Pumas Gold 17U/Alexander

D’Augustino is everything a team wants in a point guard and then some. He was able to consistently probe inside and scored a majority of his points at the rim. He is really good at driving left and is rarely denied on that side. He tallied 18 points, a majority of which came inside. He was surrounded by a team of shooters and found them consistently when he was able to get a piece of the paint on drives. D’Augustino is also a solid defender who never stops working. He is a guy that can lead a talented Pumas team far into tournaments this summer.

Alier Maluk/2025/All Ohio Red 15U/Imani Christian Academy

At 6 foot 10, Maluk towers off every other player on the court. His combination of height and length is unmatched in the 2025 class. He uses this well on the defensive end to deny shots and force bad shots. He is also a great on-ball defender and can move his feet well on the perimeter. He dropped in 12 points with most of his field goals coming from dunks. He runs the floor well and was rewarded by his teammates with transition throwdowns. The sky is the limit for Maluk as he already holds four division one offers.

Jaylen Jeter/2025/Swish Parker 15U/St. Thomas Aquinas

Playing a year up did not faze the young guard as he dropped in 15 points in a really impressive showing. Jeter is really fast with the ball and gets to the rim quickly. He can finish around taller defenders in a variety of ways. Jeter doesn’t shy away from contact and can use both hands to finish. He is also a great on-ball defender and picked his opponent’s pocket a few times which led to easy transition buckets. Jeter is an exciting prospect in the freshman class and it will be exciting to see his growth in the future.

Marquis Long/2024/Xcel Sports/Marion-Harding

It is rare to see someone not attempt a three-point shot in today’s game and Long is one of them. There is no reason to shoot a three when you can score all 18 of your points inside. Long was really good at getting to the rim and finishing strong. He was able to score inside off the dribble, from cutting, and in transition. He embraces contact from defenders and was able to convert two and one opportunities. Along with fellow sophomore, Tito Glass, Marion Harding has a nice 2024 class to build on.

Atou Thiam/2024/Quality Sports 16U/Pickerington Central

After watching Thiam in the Battle for the City, I was interested to catch him during AAU. He is a great two-way player who did everything for his team. Along with nine points, Thiam was a lockdown defender who came up with three blocks and two steals. He is really athletic and quick which allowed him to keep up with fast players. He passed well from drives in the paint and also grabbed numerous rebounds. I am interested to see how he progresses during the rest of the AAU season.

Jeremy Wilson/2024/SMAC Akron/Solon

The first thing that stands out is how quickly Wilson can move with the ball. He is a taller wing that explodes to the rim and thrives in transition. He is good at finding space while using screens and finishes strong at the rim. He totaled 14 points and also knocked down a three. Wilson handles the ball well and runs the offense smoothly. It is a luxury for a team to have a guy of Wilson’s size to run the point.

Noah Nordstrom/2025/Mid Ohio Pumas 15U/St. Charles

Nordstrom put on a great shooting display as he hit five triples in a 19-point performance. He has a smooth shooting stroke but does the little things every great shooter does. He never stops moving without the ball and runs hard off screens to get open. He also relocates well after passing the ball and hit two triples from this. Nordstrom also used pump fakes effectively to get open for shots. He can provide St.Charles with some much-needed outside shooting next season.

Elijah Hudson/2024/Mid Ohio Basketball Crockett/Lexington

Hudson’s offensive game stems from his natural height and length. At 6 foot 7, Hudson can shoot over almost anyone on the floor and scored 13 points in an efficient game. He has a good handle and can create his own shot as he knocked down a few jumpers off the dribble. He also showed off some nice dribble moves to get by his defender. With his height and smooth game, Hudson is an asset to any team.

Graham Federer/2024/Quality Sports 16U/Big Walnut

Federer is a smooth shooting point guard that had two nice games this tournament. He had 22 points and four triples over those two games. He also had the primary ball-handling duties for his team and did a nice job running the offense. He has a great knack for drawing fouls and was able to get to the free-throw line consistently. Federer was able to knock down the three-ball at a decent clip and can provide some good minutes for Big Walnut next season.
