COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Yesterday was just another day in the office for Devonte Curry.

After highlighting last Tuesday night's stars of the night article following a 44 point outing against Africentric, Curry went off once again, scoring 40 points in a blowout win over Marion-Franklin.

So if anyone is keeping count, the senior guard is averaging a smooth 42 points per game in Briggs' last two contests. No big deal.

Curry is a player who is really breaking out in his senior season as he shot up four inches over the offseason and is one of the best shooters that you will find anywhere in the area.

The senior truly has his best basketball ahead of him and is extremely deserving of a shot to play at the next level. Curry holds an offer from Hocking College, a JUCO program in Hocking Hills, but also has a 22 on the ACT and is a full qualifier to play at the next level.

Coaches: if you're looking for a player who is only going to get better, can fill up the box score in a hurry and is going to work his tail off for you, look no further than Curry. He has been a pleasant surprise in Central Ohio this season and is one of the top scorers in the area.

While Briggs does not have any regular season games left, Curry will have a chance to show off his skillset in a sectional semifinal matchup with sixth-seeded Dublin Jerome in a couple of weeks.

We are excited to see what the sharpshooter can do in a matchup against a team with the talent of Dublin Jerome as he just put up 44 points last week against an Africentric team who is going to play for a City League title on Saturday.

While Curry continued to do the unthinkable and put up his second consecutive 40 point game on Tuesday night, many other players put up big numbers in the area, so let's take a look at some of the top performances below.

Carson Rife (6'0 G / Marion Elgin / 2023): Rife went off for Elgin last night, exploding for a career-high 34 points in a 66-44 win over Mount Gilead. The junior guard put together one of the best shooting performances all season in the win, nailing eight triples in the contest while also converting on five two-point field goals. Rife caught fire early and never let up, scoring 11 points in the first quarter and seven in the second to tally 18 first half points. After going dormant in the third and scoring just three points in the frame, Rife went off for 13 points in the final quarter, outscoring Mount Gilead's entire team in the final eight minutes and powering Elgin to victory. Rife is a junior who we are not very familiar with, however performances like he turned in on Tuesday night will certainly catch our eyes.

Wes Stokes (6'4 SF / Marion Harding / 2022): Despite taking a tough loss at River Valley, Stokes turned in another impressive performance last night, going for a game-high 32 points in the contest. Stokes finished off seven two-point field goals in the contest, nailed a trio of three-pointers and also converted on nine shots at the free throw line, showing off his entire arsenal throughout. Stokes is a talented 6-foot-4 wing with a great combination of size, athletic ability and skill. We expect the Marion Harding product to enjoy a stellar career at Heidelberg moving forward, a Division III powerhouse in the OAC that has done a great job of snagging skilled athletes like the senior in years past.

Joe Benvie (6'2 SG / Granville Christian / 2022): Benvie did what he does best on Tuesday night, pouring in 32 points as Granville Christian nearly took down Danville at home. The sharpshooting senior guard nailed just two three-pointers in the contest, converting on 12 two-point field goals on his way to another 30 ball.  Benvie has been one of the most prolific scorers in the area over the last two seasons as Tuesday night marked his third 30+ point game of the season. While he might get as much shine as other players playing at a school as small as Granville Christian, we have really began to appreciate the scoring prowess of Benvie. He has been featured in these articles more than nearly anyone else in the area as he is extremely consistent every night out. The senior will look to take over in the postseason and help try to lead Granville Christian to a district title in Division IV.

Dennis Asoro (6'8 traditional big / Eastmoor / 2022): Asoro continued his dominant senior campaign last night by going for 31 points in a three-point loss at Africentric. The senior big has been one of the most dominant players in the area all season, scoring, rebounding and blocking shots all at a high level. He does virtually all of his damage inside the three-point line, bullying smaller defenders under the rim and finishing at a high rate. Asoro has attracted the attention of some big time JUCO programs with his play this season. At 6-foot-8, he has a great blend of size, good hands and excellent touch near the rim while also being a decent athlete. The senior is one of the most promising 2022 prospects in the area as he has been a late bloomer who has consistently put up great numbers all season. If you're a Division I JUCO in need of a big man, look no further. Dennis is your guy.
