A look at the latest power rankings in Central Ohio basketball

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- With the Jared Sullinger Play-by-Play Classic out of the way, there's really no more major events left in the city, which means we have a load of top-10 matchups at home sites left to play!

Let's get into the action. Make sure to subscribe to the 270 Hoops All-Access Pass to access the complete rankings, included with strength of record, strength of schedule, RPI metrics, a full outlook and a listing of tiers, both ranked and unranked, for every team.

DIVISION I

  1. Pickerington Central (13-1): Things looked a little nerve-racking on Saturday for the top-ranked Tigers, trailing by as many as 12 late in their game against Taft at ODU. But, thanks to big efforts from Sonny Styles and Devin Royal, Pickerington Central rallied to maintain their hold on No. 1. A battle between the top of Division I and Division III is in play on Saturday when the Tigers travel to Africentric.
  2. Gahanna Lincoln (14-2): The Lions have been as hot as can be these last two weeks, snagging four high-level wins, and they added one over the weekend by defeating Akron Buchtel 54-37 in convincing fashion. The second trip around the OCC-Ohio continues on Friday for Gahanna, who hosts New Albany, a team they beat 63-28 on Dec. 10.
  3. Westerville South (14-0): Central Ohio’s lone unbeaten keeps on chugging along, holding off No. 10 Dublin Jerome on Monday before routing Dublin Scioto on Friday. An important clash at Westerville North on Friday will have big league implications as we come down the stretch.
  4. Pickerington North (11-2): The Panthers continue to grind out victories, and that includes the 53-42 win at Westerville Central last Friday. Some local rivalries await early this week as they host Groveport and travel to Canal Winchester on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. They can keep pace on Friday in the OCC-Ohio with a win over Westland.
  5. Hilliard Bradley (12-3): The train is rumbling down the tracks at breakneck speed now for Hilliard Bradley, who has not lost a game in over a month, and avenged their first loss of the year on Friday by knocking off No. 7 Upper Arlington 61-55. Couple that with a 51-42 win over (#1 D3) Africentric at ODU on Saturday, and things look even brighter. The Jags can avenge another loss on Friday, when they travel to crosstown foe Hilliard Davidson.

DIVISION II

  1. Linden-McKinley (12-4): With the early season skid out of the way, Linden is ROLLING right now, winners of six straight including a big 42-39 win at No. 4 Bloom-Carroll on Wednesday. The new No. 1 clashes with No. 2 Beechcroft on Monday night for a massive City League North showdown.
  2. Beechcroft (11-2): Staying steady at No. 2 for this week, Beechcroft will have a chance to make their biggest statement of the year when they travel to Linden for the afore-mentioned massive City League North clash on Monday. Get your popcorn ready.
  3. Heath (12-2): Surviving in overtime on Saturday night against No. 7 DeSales, Heath staked their claim to the top three in Division II for another week. The Bulldogs have won eight in a row and will have a chance to hit double digits this week with home LCL games against Licking Valley and Northridge.
  4. Bloom-Carroll (14-2): Although they are the win leader in Division II as of now, Bloom-Carroll had to start a new win streak on Friday night with a win over Liberty Union. The Bulldogs fell 42-39 to Linden last Wednesday night, but will have a solid chance to make it three straight wins with a road game against Teays Valley Tuesday, followed by a home game against Hamilton Township.
  5. Bishop Watterson (8-4): The 1-4 stretch to begin this year’s campaign is nothing but old news to the Eagles now, who have won seven straight games, and two of the last three in thrilling fashion against No. 6 Jonathan Alder last Sunday and Hartley on Friday. A big first-place matchup looms on Friday night as Watterson heads to St. Charles.
