Devonte Curry and Tito Glass combined for 59 points on Tuesday

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- In a 6 p.m. matinee matchup on Tuesday, Briggs (5-9) started fast and never let off the gas in an 82-60 win over Marion-Franklin (3-7).

The Bruins were led by senior guard Devonte Curry, who drained seven threes and scored 29 points. Briggs dominated the middle quarter, outscoring the Red Devils 45-27. The trio of Curry and juniors Jaquise Keaton and Saadiq Reeves combined for 64 points on the night, executing both on the interior and on the perimeter.

Marion-Franklin was led primarily by sophomore wing Tito Glass, who was on fire all game long, knocking down five threes and finishing with 30 points.

With the win, Briggs picks up its first win of the new year and will look to make it two in a row when they host rival West on Friday.

Marion-Franklin will look to bounce back and ride the momentum of last Saturday's win over Bishop Hartley when they host Independence.

Devonte Curry (6'4 hybrid guard / Briggs / 2022): It has been an absolute joy to watch Curry develop over the last four years. While he came into high school undersized and several inches under 6-foot, the senior has stretched out and never stopped putting hours into his skill set. That work ethic has clearly paid off, as Curry is having one of the best breakout seasons for any senior in the area. He was at it once again on Tuesday, knocking down SEVEN threes, showing off feathery touch and a quick trigger on the perimeter. Curry is a natural shooter and a legitimate lead guard who keeps the ball on a string and makes good decisions as a passer. We love the way Curry communicates with his teammates, as he is constantly leading vocally and getting his guys into the right spots. We have nothing but great things to say about Curry, as he is a quality student, great character young man and rising talent that college programs need to covet. This is a kid who will continue to get better and make an impact at the next level.

Tito Glass (6'3 SF / Marion-Franklin / 2024): This kid right here is a physical beast. There are few sophomores who offer what Glass offers physically and athletically. The football standout is just as good as a basketball prospect, as he offers imposing size and toughness on the wing at 6-foot-3. Glass thoroughly dominated Tuesday's game on the offensive end, knocking down five threes off the bounce, while showing a high level of ability to finish around the rim. Glass is built like a grown man and plays with the feel of a kid that is mature beyond his years. While there isn't much help around him, Glass is a primetime player in the City League  that should not be slept on due to the school he plays for. Glass is one of the elite prospects that we have scouted in the 2024 class, as his 30 points were the most that we've seen in person from a sophomore this year.

Saadiq Reeves (6'4 SG / Briggs / 2023): We really love Reeves' upside. He is a super rangy guard who is only scratching the surface of how good he can be. For his length at 6-foot-4, Reeves is extremely quick and has great feet. He was a terror in transition, as he really knows how to finish and maneuver his way to the rim. The junior will need to keep improving as a jump shooter, however, his ability to slash to the rim and finish will be his calling card. If Reeves can put on some weight and add strength to his wiry frame, it'll greatly improve his production and next level value on both ends. This could be a kid who really takes leaps forward next year as a senior.

Jaquise Keaton (6'3 PF / Briggs / 2023): Keaton is a strong low post presence who really knows how to use his body and finish. The junior is a physical forward with a bit of guard skills and interior toughness. We like how hard Keaton plays, as he runs the floor hard, has good hands and can protect the rim with his size and physicality. As Keaton continues to improve on the wing, he could be a matchup problem for smaller guards and slower footed bigs with the versatility that he offers.

Montana Smallwood (5'10 hybrid guard / Marion-Franklin / 2023): Smallwood has been the second piece of a solid backcourt for Marion-Franklin. The junior guard was effective attacking the basket on Tuesday where he showed the ability to finish on both sides of the rim. Smallwood is quick in space and has natural scoring ability. If the Red Devils can cultivate their backcourt and help increase participation numbers to surround Smallwood and Glass with more help, Marion-Franklin could drastically improve next season.
