COLUMBUS, Ohio -- There is a huge season brewing for a high level southern Ohio hooper.

Dropping 32 points last night in a win over Portsmouth West, Waverly senior guard Trey Robertson continued his monster season to lead the Tigers to victory.

The 5-foot-10 guard has been dominant in all of Waverly's games this season as he has scored more points than any player in Central Ohio.

Currently averaging 26.6 points per game, Robertson has scored 23+ points in eight of Waverly's nine games and has two showings of 30+ points.

Robertson clearly offers an elite scoring ability as he can fill it up in a variety of ways every time he steps on the floor. The senior has a great handle, plays with a good pace and has a pretty stroke that he uses to hit shots from the perimeter and in the mid-range.

Robertson also does a good job of getting his teammates involved and making a difference on the defensive end as he contributes to Waverly's success in every area of the game as their star player.

Robertson, who currently sits at 1626 career points, is just 40 points away from breaking the all-time scoring record at Waverly, a feat he is very likely to surpass soon.

While Waverly does not play in the Central District tournament or a local conference, they have played a couple of local teams so far this season and we would recommend making the trip south to check out the star senior guard.

He will make for an excellent player at the next level as he is a high level guard with an innate knack for scoring the basketball.

Now, let's take a look at some other big time performances turned in on Tuesday night below.

Evan Dozer (6'2 SG / Bloom Carroll / 2022): If you don't know by now, Dozer is a flat out BUCKET GETTER. Dominating once again on Tuesday night, the Bloom Carroll senior dropped 28 points to lead the Bulldogs to a solid win over Granville. Dozer has been far and away the best player in the MSL-Buckeye this season as he is averaging upwards of 23 points a night and has Bloom Carroll sitting at 9-1 midway through the season. Based on the box scores we have received, Dozer is just three points behind Robertson in scoring this season as he has already tallied 236 points on the year. Dozer is a talented guard with a strong build as he can score it from all three levels and does so very efficiently. While he does not plan on playing at the next level, we cannot wait to see how Dozer finishes out his senior campaign as Bloom Carroll has a great chance to win an MSL-Buckeye title and possibly a district title in Division II.

LA Walker (6'5 SG / Linden-McKinley / 2022): Ironically, the only two people in the area who have scored more points than Walker this season are the only two people written about before him in this article. Continuing his dominance of the City League this season, Walker poured in 27 points to power Linden-McKinley to a huge league win over Northland. Walker is a scoring machine with good size and versatility as he can knock down shots from the perimeter, but is best when he is driving down hill and using his size to move defenders around and create easy looks inside. Linden-McKinley has their biggest game of the season coming up on Friday when they take on Beechcroft in a battle for first place in the City League North. If Linden-McKinley ends up winning the North division this season, Walker is going to have a great chance to be named league POY.

Dominique Aekins (5'7 PG / Walnut Ridge / 2024): With Tuesday night being Walnut Ridge's first game since December 18, the Scots needed someone to step up big and Aekins did just that. Scoring 25 points last night, Aekins was the driving force that led Walnut Ridge to a 15 point win over bitter rival Columbus South. Aekins did a little bit of everything in the win for the Scots, nailing three triples and four two-point field goals to go along with an 8-for-9 showing from the free throw line. The sophomore guard has a ton of potential as he has a great combination of quickness, ball handling and the ability to create offense for himself and others. We are very excited to see how Aekins continues to progress in his first year playing for Walnut Ridge as he also scored 28 points and hit a game-winner in the Scots' last game against Reynoldsburg.

Dominick Avila (6'5 hybrid big / Cristo Rey / 2022): In a close loss to Millersport last night, Avila turned in one of his best performances of the season as he tallied 25 points in the loss. Avila is a player who does most of his work on the interior as a team like Millersport does not have much of a matchup for his size inside. We are a fan of Avila's game due to his love for basketball as the senior takes advantage of every opportunity he is presented as he participated in multiple 270 Hoops events in the fall and is now turning in a solid season for a Cristo Rey team who is looking to build a culture moving forward.
