A look at the top performers from the Bobcat Classic

GRANDVIEW HEIGHTS, Ohio -- The Bobcat Classic tipped off on Tuesday and featured two matchups with teams from all over the area. Let's take a look at the results and top performers.

Centerburg 61, bexley 54

Bexley and Centerburg started off a little slow as the first quarter yielded a 10-8 lead for Bexley. Both teams picked up their offense in the second half and started trading buckets. It was tied at 42 heading into the final quarter of play. Centerburg remained unbeaten with a quality win over Bexley.

Grandview Heights 75, Patriot Prep Academy 34

Grandview Heights used their defense to create easy transition buckets on the other end. They feasted on numerous Patriot Prep turnovers and created an early lead. Grandview kept their foot on the gas all the way until the buzzer for a blowout win over a team they beat for a district title last year.

Henry Brandt (5'10 G / Bexley / 2022): Brandt was the primary ball handler for his team all night. He did a great job balancing between finding his shot and looking for others. The 6 foot 1 senior dropped 18 points on the night. He also was active on defense coming up with three steals and two blocks. Brandt hit three shots from long range and effectively used his pump fake to get into the paint for easy layups. He also did a nice job running the offense when the other team moved from a man to a zone defense.

Chris Mitchell (6'5 SF / Bexley / 2022): Mitchell was a do-it-all wing for Bexley tonight as he scored from inside and out while controlling the glass. The plan early for Bexley was to feed Mitchell the ball inside and have him use his strength inside. Centerburg’s defense quickly shut this down by moving to a zone which forced Mitchell outside the paint. He hit four 3s in the game with two of them coming from NBA range. The 6 foot 5 senior grabbed every rebound on both the offensive and defensive side which led to second chance points for his team. He used his long reach and quick feet to stay engaged on the defensive end of the floor and also contested shots at the rim well. Mitchell is clearly the focal point for Bexley’s offense this season.

Mickinnon Mead (6'0 hybrid guard / Centerburg / 2022): Mead poured in a game high 26 points and hit a shot from almost everywhere on the court. Bexley took away his three point shot early which allowed Mead to get inside and score easily. He showed off numerous dribble moves to get his defender off balance and get inside to either score or dish to a teammate. Mead hit a few contested jumpers including a heavily contested step back three to close the third quarter. When Bexley went to a press, Mead went at his own speed and didn’t let the defense speed him up. He is a key piece for Centerburg moving forward.

Ian Rodeinger (6'5 traditional big / Grandview Heights / 2023): Rodeinger scored a game high 17 points where all of them came inside the paint. He showed off some nice footwork in the post and around the rim. The 6 foot 5 junior was active on the glass and snatched down almost every rebound. He was great at rolling off of screens and getting position down low. He also passed well out of the post which led to open shots for his teammates. Rodeinger will be the paint beast for Grandview Heights this season.

Keith Prysock Jr. (5'11 hybrid guard / Patriot Prep Academy / 2023): Prysock Jr. was in command of the offense for Patriot Prep all game. He dropped in 10 points and led his team in scoring. He was really good at penetrating inside with crossovers and euro steps. Pryosck Jr. split the defense three times for easy layups inside. He adjusted well to Grandview’s zone and found teammates on those drives. He also did a nice job keeping his defender in front of him on defense and will look to lead this Patriot Prep team in future games.
