COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Highlighting this edition of stars of the night is Wellington senior Chase Ouellette, who did all he could for the Jaguars last night in an unfortunate loss to Columbus Academy.

Going off for 30 points in the loss, the 6-foot-6 wing continued his dominant start to the season. With great length and skill on the wing, Ouellette is a matchup nightmare in the MSL-Ohio as he can score it in a variety of ways and has not really been slowed down much this season.

Averaging over 23 points a night to start the season, Ouellette has been a major bright spot in what has otherwise been a tough start for Wellington.

The senior wing offers a lot of versatility on both ends of the floor for the Jaguars as he can score it from all three levels and makes a difference on the defensive end with his length.

Ouellette is a player who has been really fun to watch grow over the years as he made some major strides over the spring and summer and is carrying it over to the high school season.

While Wellington is in a rough patch right now, they are bound to get out of it at some point if the senior keeps producing the way that he has been as Tuesday was the second time this season that he has scored 30+ points in a loss.

Outside of Ouellette's big showing on Tuesday, a handful of other small school hoopers stood out as well, so let's take a look at them below.

Joe Benvie (6'2 G / Granville Christian / 2022): If you read these articles consistently, you know who Benvie is at this point. A player that we have become familiar with for his dominant showings in the MOCAL, the senior went off once again last night, going for 28 points, 13 rebounds and 12 steals as Granville Christian picked up a non-league win over Fairfield Christian. While he typically gets a lot of work done from behind the three point line, Benvie only knocked down one triple last night but converted on 10 two-point field goals and went 5-for-8 from the free throw line. Clearly making a difference on the defensive end as well, the senior's 12 (!!!) steals played a major role in helping his team hold on late. While Granville Christian is a Division IV school that many people don't know about, you have to take notice of the numbers that this young man is putting up. Not only does he fill it up, but he does it consistently and helps it translate to wins for his team.

Peyton Weiler (6'0 G / Teays Valley / 2022): Weiler provided Teays Valley with a big boost on Tuesday night as the senior went for 22 points to help the Vikings pick up a really impressive road win against Central Crossing. Getting it done from all over the floor, Weiler hit three triples in the contest and also got inside for a handful of scores to go along with hitting a few key free throws late in the game. While Weiler is a player who we are not very familiar with at this point in time, he has enjoyed a solid senior campaign for Teays Valley thus far. Before a tough loss at Hilliard Bradley on Monday, he also went for 18 points in a critical league win over Fairfield Union on Saturday. Teays Valley has seemed to score by committee this season and Weiler was the guy who stepped up to help them pick up a solid win on Tuesday.

Tegan Myers (6'2 WG / Logan / 2022): Myers did what he does best on Tuesday night, leading Logan to another win over an OCC program as he scored 22 points in a one-point win over Lancaster. Nailing four three's and grabbing four boards in the contest as well, Myers efficiency translated to the rest of his team as Logan shot nearly 43% from beyond the arc in the contest. With great size and scoring ability at the guard spot, Myers is a player that small school programs should be all over. He can really score it, can create for teammates and also has a great understanding of the game. Myers comes from a great basketball family and is enjoying a stellar senior season for the Chieftains this year.

Trenton Collins (6'4 WG / Utica / 2023): Since transferring to Utica in the offseason, Collins has been putting up excellent numbers and has the Redskins off to their best start in the 270 Hoops era. After dropping 23 points in a really impressive win over Newark Catholic on Saturday, Collins turned around and went for 21 last night as the Redskins picked up another win, this one coming over Tree of Life. With Utica currently sitting at 5-1, the Redkins have a chance to make some major noise in the LCL this season. Collins is one of the more talented players in the conference as he creates for others and scores it in multiple ways at 6-foot-4. The junior burst onto our radar last season and has been nothing but impressive since, developing into an intriguing prospect for the next level over time.

Graesin Cass (5'10 G / Northmor / 2022): Cass continued his stellar senior season with 22 points in a win over Loudonville. Northmor is the furthest program north in Central Ohio, so the Golden Knights don't always get the most coverage, however, Cass has been a four year contributor and solid all the way across the board for Northmor. Last night's 22 points were his career high, as Cass helped Northmor stop a three-game skid.

Other Notable Scorers

Braydan Taylor

  • Alex Bruskotter (6'6 WG / Shelby / 2024): 21 points in a 59-48 loss to River Valley
  • Tanner Holbert (5'10 G / Logan Elm / 2023): 20 points in a 51-39 win over Westfall
  • Trey Booker (5'11 PG / Pleasant / 2024): 20 points in a 60-56 loss to Ontario
  • Braydan Taylor (6'2 WG / Grove City Christian / 2023): 20 points in a 54-38 win over Bishop Rosecrans. Taylor has appeared in these articles more than anyone else in the area this season and has Grove City Christian sitting at 4-1
