COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Nothing new here.

After starring these articles more than anyone in Central Ohio last season, Granville Christian senior Joe Benvie is once again the focus of this week's stars of the night article following a 32 point showing in a 67-55 win over Liberty Christian.

Getting off to an extremely hot start in the contest, Benvie scored half of his points in the first quarter.

Outscoring Liberty Christian by himself in the frame, Benvie nailed two triples and converted on five two-pointers to help Granville Christian jump out to a 28-10 lead after one quarter.

After a slow second quarter where Granville Christian only scored eight points as a team, Benvie refused to surrender the lead, scoring 11 second half points to power his squad to a win down the stretch.

For those who aren't familiar with small school basketball, Benvie is certainly a player you want to keep an eye on. He put up some unreal numbers last season and has been dominant in the MOCAL throughout his career.

Benvie is an experienced senior who can score from all three levels and even despite being the focal point of opposing teams game plans, he continues to deliver for Granville Christian every night.

There were a handful of other great scoring performances in Columbus last night as well, so lets take a look at them below.

Dan Wagner (6'1 G / Africentric / 2022): Just a day removed from receiving first-team all-state honors on the gridiron, Wagner powered Africentric with a game-high 24 points in a big City League win over Walnut Ridge. An absolute gamer with a ton of experience, Wagner offers a unique blend of quickness, shot making ability and intensity that benefit any team on offense. While many teams will be focused on shutting down Dailyn Swain when playing Africentric, Wagner can not go unnoticed as he can put up just as big of numbers as Swain. We are huge fans of Wagner at 270 Hoops and can't wait to see what he leads Africentric to in his senior year. No matter what sport he chooses in college, Dan will make an instant impact.

Julian Heckman (6'0 PG / Reynoldsburg / 2022): In a tough overtime loss to Groveport Madison last night, Heckman led all scorers with 24 points in the contest. Off to a hot start to the season, Heckman has put up some impressive numbers over the last several weeks. The senior guard is finally the focal point of the Reynoldsburg offensive attack and is taking full advantage of that. Not only can Heckman score it from all three levels, he also does a great job of getting his teammates involved and creating easy buckets for others. Despite a loss last night, we think this Reynoldsburg team is loaded with potential and we are excited to see where the leadership of Heckman takes them.

Justin Perry (6'7 WF / New Albany / 2022): In a close win over St. Charles last night, Perry paced all scorers with 23 points. Getting off to a quick start, Perry poured in eight first quarter points to get the night going. After scoring just three points in the middle two quarters, Perry turned things on in the fourth to secure the win for the Eagles. Scoring 12 points in the final frame, Perry knocked down six free throws and hit a few clutch shots to help New Albany seal the win. We are excited to continue to track the Eagles this season as they seem to have a new leading scorer every night and are off to a great start to the season thus far. They will receive their biggest test of the year when they take on Gahanna on Friday.

Nick Heath (6'3 WG / Upper Arlington / 2022): Turning in yet another strong performance last night, Heath led all scorers with 23 points as Upper Arlington picked up a win against Grove City on the road. Heath has an absolutely phenomenal story as he played all of last season with anemia and has now returned better than ever. Heath has great skill at 6-foot-3 as he can create shots off the dribble, get inside for tough scores and make an impact on the defensive end. We have been amazed with the perseverance of Heath and can not wait to see what he does the rest of the season. So many people could have gave up in his situation, but he absolutely fought to make the most of it.
