COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Some guys just have a natural tendency to score the basketball, and Bede Lori is one of those guys.

Highlighting our first stars of the night article of the year, Lori dropped 39 (!!) points in Caldwell's 68-54 win over Andrews Osbourne Academy.

One of the most talented scorers in the entire state, Lori has been off to a phenomenal start to his junior season. He is a true three-level scorer who knows how to get to his spots and is extremely efficient.

At a small school like Caldwell, Lori is heavily relied on to score a ton of points as he has a chance to surpass 2500 points in his career if he keeps scoring at the rate he is and stays healthy.

Before the season, 270 Hoops started a mental health challenge where we donated 10 dollars anytime a player or fan sent us a video of them making 10 straight free-throws.

Lori decided to join in, but he went as far as making 183 (!!) foul shots in a row.

Yes, you read that right. He made 183 straight free-throws and we have video evidence.

We are really excited to track Lori this season as he has the chance to put up some video game type numbers with the schedule that Caldwell plays against.

Teams will do all they can to try to make Caldwell's supporting cast beat them, but Lori simply might be too much of a scoring machine all year.

Kaleb Schaffer (6'5 WF / Bishop Ready / 2023): Another player who has been off to an excellent start to the season, Bishop Ready junior Kaleb Schaffer poured in 25 points last night to help lead the Silver Knights to a 46-42 win over St. Charles to begin CCL play. Schaffer also dropped 25 in a win over Zane Trace and 20 in a win over Liberty Union as Bishop Ready currently sits at 3-0. Really bursting onto the scene to start the season, Schaffer has quickly emerged as one of the best players in the CCL. The junior can hit shots from all three levels and does a great job of playing fundamental basketball in order to create easy looks. After the CCL graduated players like Des Watson and lost guys like Derrick James to transfer, Schaffer could be a dark horse to win league POY  if Bishop Ready continues to play the way that they are to start the season.

Shane Knepp (5'11 G / East Knox / 2022): A player that most 270 fans may not be familiar with, Knepp outscored his opponent last night as he dropped 23 points while East Knox opened up their season with a 44-20 win over Cardington Lincoln. While we have not had the chance to cover Knepp, will definitely try to make it out to East Knox if the senior guard continues to put up numbers like he did last night. The KMAC always features some sleeper players and it appears that Knepp could be one of those guys this season. Also a standout for the East Knox football team, Knepp is a well-rounded athlete who the Bulldogs will rely on heavily this season.

Grant Burkholder (5'9 PG / Newark / 2023): Putting together arguably the most impressive performance of anybody on Friday night, Burkholder led Newark with 22 points as they rolled into Pickerington Central and upset the Tigers in a 47-42 win. Controlling the pace of the game and limiting turnovers, Burkholder scored in multiple ways on Friday night and got his teammates involved as well. The junior hit three triples and got inside for some really tough finishes around the elite length and athleticism that Pickerington Central offers on the interior. What impressed us most about Burkholder's performance was his leadership, however, as the Newark junior did a great job of keeping himself and his teammates locked in all night and focusing on the fact that every single possession has an immense value when you're playing a team as talented as Pickerington Central.

Braylen Nash (6'3 WG / New Albany / 2024): Pouring in 21 points last night, Nash led all scorers as New Albany opened up OCC-Ohio play with a 59-44 win over Grove City. We really like the sophomore's game as he can score it from all three levels and has a really smooth game. Nash plays with a good pace, does not rush himself and does a great job of getting to his spots. We feel New Albany could be a sleeper team in Central Ohio this season and Nash will be a big part of that. With guys like Nash, Josh Evans and Justin Perry, the Golden Eagles have the chance to piece together some impressive wins and turn some heads in the 614 this winter.

• Sohn McGee (6'4 WG / Central Crossing / 2022): 20 points in a 48-46 win over Lancaster
• Jerry Saunders (6'1 WG / Pickerington North / 2022): 20 points in a 55-52 win over Westerville Central
• ​​​​​​​Kaid Carpenter (6'4 WF / Fredericktown / 2023): 20 points in a 57-40 loss to Gilead
• Dior Conners, Josh Evans and Jake Lowman: Each scored 19 points in wins
