Taking a look at some of the top performers from Friday night's All-Ohio Preview

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- High school basketball is back! Our staff had a chance to check out seven intriguing matchups on Friday night at the All-Ohio Preview, which featured both local and non-local talent.

Let's take a look at some of the top performers below!

Devin Royal (2023 / Pickerington Central) - Royal was the best scorer in the entire showcase as he finished the game with 19 points in roughly 11 or 12 minutes of playing time. At 6-foot-6, the junior can shoot from anywhere on the floor and has the ability to create his own shot. He hit multiple mid range jumpers and a three to lead the Tigers to a win. His athleticism was on full display as he threw down two alley-oops in the game. He finished well at the rim and showed some post moves as well. He will hope to have a strong junior season and show why he is one of the best players in the entire state.

Chico Johnson (2023 / Toledo Central Catholic) - Johnson was one of the most exciting players to watch last night. The 6-foot-2 guard showed his elite three level scoring ability and got to his spots whenever he wanted. The junior shot the ball with confidence as he hit two threes and dropped in 12 points on the night. His ability to create separation was on full display as he hit a game-tying step back jumper to send the game into overtime. Johnson also did all of the little things on the defensive end while guarding the best player on the other team. The 4-star recruit is only scratching the surface of his true potential.

Dailyn Swain (2023 / Africentric) - The first thing that stands out from Swain’s game is his capability to knock down jump shots at his size. Even at 6-foot-8, the junior was able to create his own shot and knock them down at a consistent rate. He hit five mid range jumpers and finished with 12 points overall. Swain’s size allows him to compete down low on the defensive end and command the boards. He will look to be the leader of this Africentric team during City League play. If he can develop a consistent motor, Swain has a chance to put up some wild numbers in the City League this season.

Bryden Hodge (2025 / Walnut Ridge) - Hodge was probably the most impressive player in the whole showcase. Even as a freshman, he was able to control the game at his pace. The defense was trying to speed him up all game but he maintained his composure and ran the offense how he wanted. Even though this was his first high school game, the 6-foot guard looked like a seasoned veteran. He was active on defense and moved his feet well. He ended the game with 11 points and also found his open teammates on numerous occasions, leading Walnut Ridge to a blowout win despite missing three starters.

Zion Blevins (2022 / Walnut Ridge) - The main aspect of Blevins’ game that stood out was his ability to handle the ball at his size. He helped run the offense and led the way in scoring for the Scots finishing with 14 points. He showed his range as he hit four threes in the game. He is also big in the paint on defense and is active on the glass. He has good post defense and moves his feet well inside the paint. The 6-foot-4 guard creates matchup problems and is a real asset for this Walnut Ridge team heading into the season.

Justin Perry (2022 / New Albany) - Perry showed his ability to score as he finished with 16 points on the night. He finished strong through contact at the rim and got to the free throw line with regularity. The most impressive thing for the 6-foot-7 wing was his ability to run the offense. He would bring the ball up the court and initiate the offense for the Eagles and also showed his defensive ability while coming up with a steal and two blocks.

KJ Satterfield (2023 / Whitehall) - Satterfield was able to get into the lane with ease and finish through contact. He was able to change speeds well and keep his defenders off balance. The junior was Whitehall’s leading scorer with 11 points in the game. He seemed to always make the right pass and racked up multiple assists. He handled pressure well and rarely turned the ball over. An offseason transfer from Cincinnati Oak Hills, Satterfield will be one of the best players in the MSL-Ohio this season.

Amani Lyles (2022 / Beechcroft) - Lyles controlled the paint all the game for Beechcroft on both ends of the floor. The 6-foot-8 big man used his length and athleticism to contest and alter many shots. He came up with two blocks and grabbed almost every rebound. He had active hands on defense which led to two steals and run outs in transition. The senior finished with several points overall and will look to command the paint during City League action.

Kenyatta Whiteside (Groveport Madison / 2022) - Whiteside was at the top of the full court press for Groveport and caused trouble for the Marion guards all game. He got numerous steals which led to easy buckets on the other end in transition. The 6-foot-3 guard also ran the offense with composure and found open teammates time after time. He showed his ability to shoot the three by knocking down two shots from long range. The senior finished with 14 points and will look to take this momentum into the start of the season.
