We take a look at the top performers from Session 2 of The Intro

LOGAN, Ohio -- Tipping off for the fourth-straight year, the 270 Hoops Intro returned this year to the Chieftain Center on Saturday. Hosting 97 different freshmen across Ohio in two separate sessions, we got a great look at the next crop of rising talent.

Let’s take a look at some of the players who really stood out to us in Session 2.

Tai Perkins (5’8 PG / Westerville North) – Perkins was the best floor general in session 2. He was far from a disappointment. He’s extremely shifty with the basketball in his hands and he is a magician on the basketball court. During the 5 on 5 games, he earned a co-MVP performance due to his ability to make big plays, basketball IQ and court vision. Perkins’ game is comparable to that of Manny Powell from Gahanna in 2014. He is a guy whose stock will continue to rise in the years ahead.

Micah Young (6’1 G / Westerville North) – Young earned a co-MVP performance with his brother. He was one the best guards we saw on Saturday.  Young is a lefty with a killer instinct. He did not back down from any competition, and he put on an impressive performance. He was efficient at scoring at all three-levels, but he was at his best when attacking the rim and taking contact to finish shots. This duo of Perkins and Young is going to be dominant in the years to come for Westerville North.

Jordan Fisher (6’4 F / Reynoldsburg) – Fisher was by far the most athletic player from Saturday. Fisher is easily a guy who already possesses some of the athletic capabilities to play at the next level. He had a ton of highlight plays and he showed some ability to take defenders off the dribble and create his own shot. He is a player that will continue to improve and will see impact at Reynoldsburg this season in a talented 2025 class.

Landon Vanderwarker (6’6 WF / Northside Christian) – Vanderwarker is a lengthy versatile forward who can play inside and outside. During the 1 on 1 sessions, he was very hard to keep up with because of size and length. Vanderwarker is another guy who possesses the skill and athletic ability to be a top prospect if he continues to improve. We really love the way Vanderwarker moves at his size, as he can put the ball in the bucket in a variety of ways while being a versatile defender. At Division IV Northside Christian, Vanderwarker has a chance to have a legendary career for that program, as we wouldn’t be surprised if he scores 1500+ points over the next four seasons.

Weston Gregg (6’2 F / Upper Arlington) - Gregg dominated on the interior all day long last week. He was by far the strongest finisher in the gym, as he finished through any defender in his way. The freshman forward has a very versatile game, as he can stretch the floor with his jumper, but is most impactful around the basket where he’s a bruising forward that is not scared of contact - something you don’t see very often from young players. Gregg is a seamless fit in the UA program where he should have a very productive career.

CJ Collins (5’10 PG / Dublin Coffman) - Collins is a considerably skilled guard who offers scoring ability out way beyond the three-point line. While his team mightily struggled on Saturday, Collins was a star in the skill drills part of the camp, knocking down difficult shots, creating opportunities for teammates and showcasing his well-rounded offensive game. With his play style, there simply isn’t a better guard for Collins to learn under this year than Ajay Sheldon, who offered some of the same skill and playmaking ability as his younger teammate when the Ohio commit was a freshman just three years ago.

Carson Murphy (5’11 G / Granville) – Murphy is an elite shooter. He was the winner of our individual shooting contest and he displayed great form, fluidity and release on his shot. In a program like Granville, his services will always be needed when he is called on for an opportunity.  Shooting is the most important asset in the game of basketball and Murphy certainly has that.

Maceo Harper (6’3 G / Westerville Central) – Harper is a name to remember. He was another lefty who can fill it up.  He is excellent at creating his own shot and possesses a lot of elite level moves that aren’t seen among guys in his grade. In addition to that, his size at the guard level makes him an intriguing prospect. We expect his stock to rise with the upcoming season.

Mondale Bradley Jr. (6’3 G / Pickerington North) – Of all the guards in session 2, Bradley was the most athletic. He has a high motor and plays with a ton of energy. He was also arguably one of the best defenders at the event. Every minute he played on Saturday was impactful. As another player who played on JH95 Elite this past summer, you can truly see the influence it has had on his game. Bradley is also one of the youngest players in the class, which will bode well for him going forward.

Mykell Murphy (6’2 WF / Pickerington North) – Murphy is a beast. He’s a strong, athletic wing who can finish the ball consistently around the rim and is excellent at pushing the ball up the floor. He also is a defensive nightmare who can guard multiple positions and rebound the basketball well. Murphy is one of those players who does all the right things to get his team a win. With continual improvement, Murphy will be a great piece on a loaded Pickerington North team.

Miles Jackson (6’1 G / New Albany) – Jackson is a knockdown shooter who can also create his own shot. He plays with a lot of confidence and knows how to make the right passes to get teammates involved. He has a very unselfish game and does not look to just score the ball every time as many kids may do at events. It takes a high level of maturity to have that quality this early. The Eagles have a nice amount of young talent in the program and Jackson has a chance to be as good as anyone.

Sawyer Weston (6’0 G/ River Valley) – Weston is a skilled guard with great fundamentals and decision-making skills. Did not force shots and always looked to create opportunities for other teammates. Weston may not be the flashiest basketball player, but he knows how to play the game the right way. Those attributes should serve him well at River Valley, who replaces one of its best all time guards in Ethan Bell. Look for Weston to have a chance to have a career like Bell's over the next four years.

Colton Bruny (5’8 G / Lancaster) - The freshman Bruny was a treat to watch at the point guard position. Between his next level passing, quickness and scoring ability, Bruny played with a level of confidence and bravado that was fun to watch. With Lancaster not having the greatest basketball success in the last decade and a half, the Gales have an exciting class of newcomers arriving with Bruny being one of the best of the bunch.

Khalil Daniels (6’2 G / Bishop Hartley) - Daniels was one of the biggest and most physical guards in the event. He is constantly in attack mode and can finish at the rim with consistency. We enjoy watching young guards who play with little fear and Daniels is one of those guys. Hartley has a talented freshman class coming in with Daniels, Jaden Calloway and Denim Cook which could help the Hawks get back to a CCL-championship level.

Other Notable Performers:
Jaden Calloway (5’11 G / Bishop Hartley), Adel Masad (5’9 G / Hilliard Davidson), Logan Thrapp (5’11 G / Olentangy),  Jakob Legron (5’10 PG /Mansfield Senior), Denim Cook (6’2 WF/ Bishop Hartley), Jahmere Johnson (5’6 G /Harvest Prep), Nasir Turner (5’10 G / Gahanna Lincoln)
