REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio -- The Central Ohio Fall league powered by Nova Village and 270 Hoops continued action this past weekend on Saturday. Just as before, there were some solid players that stood out. Let’s take a closer look at the top performers from the two middle school divisions for Week 4. 

Braelyn McGovern (PG / John McIntyre / 2028): Braelyn McGovern was very impressive this weekend. He was efficient on straight line drives, in pick and roll scenarios, getting teammates involved, and keeping his head up in transition. McGovern is the kind of point guard any coach would take on their team. 

Griffin Harper (G / Philo / 2028): Griffin Harper was also another great player to watch. What struck me the most about his game was not only his shooting but his decision-making skills on the court. It’s very common with kids his age to overshoot the ball but that was not the case with Harper. His basketball IQ appears to be developed and that is one of the reasons his team has the top record in the 5th & 6th grade division. 

Evan Allgood (G / Grace Christian / 2028): Evan Allgood put on a show and brought a lot of energy this weekend. His style of play is fun to watch among players his age. He was very active defensively forcing turnovers on the other teams and he played very well offensively. It will be exciting to watch Allgood develop more as a player over the years ahead. 

Garrett Hannahs (F / Granville / 2028): Garrett Hannahs added another solid performance to the books this weekend. This time around, he displayed some good footwork in the post and continued to use his long frame to dominate the offensive glass. If he continues to develop his game, he has the potential to be a very dominate player. 

Matthew Stanton (G / Home School / 2029): Matthew Stanton is a crafty point guard. He was great at pushing the ball up the court and made some nice plays for himself and his teammates. Stanton is another player who has a very unselfish game and doesn’t force situations that lead to turnovers.

Mason & Tyler Gooden (G / Genoa / 2026): Mason and Tyler Gooden are a dangerous guard combo. They were every guard’s nightmare this weekend. The Gooden brothers were everywhere defensively, and they were excellent in scoring and making plays off turnovers. This is a duo you will not want to forget as they have won at every event we've seen them at this year. 

Diante James (G / Canal Winchester / 2026): Diante James, the younger brother of Canal Winchester’s Derrick James is nice. Having watched him a few weeks back, he just makes it look easy. He has a lot of similarities in his game to his brother and it almost seemed like you were watching the same player at times. James will be a guy to watch as he grows over the next few years.

Mouhamad Thiam (F / Pickerington Ridgeview / 2026): Mouhamad Thiam has a lot of potential. He is a long, athletic wing with a smooth game. His ability to shoot the ball was very evident this weekend as he knocked many threes and mid-range shots from many spots on the court. Standing at 6’2, I can see him growing much more as he heads into high school next year.

Deon Johnson (F / Sherwood / 2027): Deon Johnson was also impressive this weekend. He has a nice handle with the ball in his hands and he made a lot of skilled moves going to the basket. Johnson has a nice size and build to play at the guard position if he continues to develop his game.

Jorden Bowens (G / Reynoldsburg / 2026): As expected, Bowens was dominant once again. He played with a good speed and handled the ball very well. He also had impressive blocks on defense and finished well under the basket. What I liked most was how he did not settle for jump shots but he took full advantage of his size in attacking the rim for some nice finishes and highlight plays.

Other notable performers: Tayvon Wright (PG / Gahanna South / 2026), DaJahn Corbin (G / Mansfield / 2026), Jason Singleton (G / Columbus Academy / 2026), King Kendrick (PG / Dominion / 2026), Desmond Akantey (F / Heritage / 2026)
