Olentangy Berkshire rolled to the league championship on Thursday

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The final week of the NeXT Basketball 8th Grade Summer League concluded this Thursday night. There were lots of players who stood out, and Olentangy Berkshire came away with the 61-45 victory over Harvest Prep in a highly contested championship game.

Levi Davis (G / Olentangy Berkshire / 2026): Levi Davis came to play night in and night out during this entire summer league. His squad played UA Jones in the semifinals on Thursday night, and Davis set the tone early. He had three steals and seven points in just the first three minutes of the game. He went on to put up an absurd stat line of 19 points, 11 steals, four rebounds, and three assists in their 50-41 win.

Olentangy Berkshire went on to play Harvest Prep in the championship game, and Levi Davis was a star on the biggest stage of the last 5 weeks. He was in seemingly every passing lane, and finished strong at the rim. He also knocked down a triple en route to a stat line of 19 points, four rebounds, and two steals. Davis showed off some major skills during the whole month of June, and he is going to be a name heard all over Central Ohio for years to come.

Treyton Schroeder (PG / Olentangy Berkshire / 2026): It seems almost unfair to pair Treyton Schroeder with Levi Davis, but that is the luxury that Olentangy Berkshire has. Schroeder was the best point guard in the whole summer league. He has such elite court vision that he puts on display in transition, in set offense, and in the pick and roll game. He knocked down three second half triples in the championship game that gave his team the boost that they needed to extend their lead. Schroeder is a guy that any basketball player would love to play with.

Jamarcus Jones (F / Harvest Prep / 2026): Jamarcus Jones had another outstanding week this week. He was tasked with the very tough assignment of guarding Levi Davis in the championship game. Jones played Davis very tough for a lot of the game forcing two turnovers. He is a super physical and tough forward that is not afraid of contact. Jones was one of the fastest players in the entire summer league, and he knew just how to use it.

Alex Smith (F / UA Jones / 2026): Alex Smith was one of the most consistent players the last few weeks. He did not have a game without a block. Smith is a very talented and smart rim protector, and was the biggest reason why UA Jones was able to be in the game with Olentangy Berkshire down the stretch in the semifinal game.

Paul Morrison (PG / Harvest Prep / 2026): Paul Morrison was probably the best pure shooter in the summer league. He was a huge reason why Harvest Prep was able to stay in the championship game down the stretch. Morrison had four three pointers in the championship game, and he just has a knack for finding the open spot behind the three point line and letting it fly.

Drew Hauenstein (SF / Olentangy Liberty / 2026): Drew Hauenstein is a super physical player and that was on display this week. He fought hard for multiple offensive rebounds, and was diving all over the place after loose balls. He is also super talented with the ball in his hands for a player his size at his age.
