COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Tournament time is finally upon us in boys basketball. Let's take a look at all the sectional semifinal action in the area on Tuesday in Division I!

#32 Marion Harding 45, #40 Delaware Hayes 43

Marion Harding advances to the sectional finals to take on No. 3 Hilliard Bradley on Friday at 7 p.m.

#22 Westerville North 59, #28 Grove City 50

In a very competitive game that went back and forth from the opening tip on Tuesday night, Westerville North used solid free throw shooting and a total team effort to take down Grove City 59-50 at home.

While the Greyhounds grabbed the lead for the first time in the second half late in the third after a big scoring spurt from Alex Coffey,  a half court shot at the buzzer from Caleb Iheukwu gave Westerville North a 38-37 lead heading into the final frame that they only built on from that point forward as they never trailed again.

In an excellent showing, Coffey led all scorers with 24 points for Grove City. Fellow senior Brock Waits also added 10 of his own and finished his career as the all-time leading scorer in Grove City history.

It will be interesting to see how the Greyhounds handle things next year in the absence of the two as they carried a lot of the scoring load this season.

For Westerville North, Camden Leford, Noah Lawrence and Carter Reese each scored 13 points and Iheukwu added 11 of his own.

Westerville North advances to the sectional finals to take on No. 12 Westerville South on Friday at 7 p.m.

#16 St. Charles 60, #43 Zanesville 28

St. Charles advances to the sectional finals to take on No. 14 Olentangy on Friday at 7 p.m.

#6 Pickerington Central 77, #48 West 26

Pickerington Central advances to the sectional finals to take on No. 45 Mifflin on Friday at 7 p.m.

#38 Mount Vernon 64, #44 Westland 50

Mount Vernon advances to the sectional finals to take on No. 2 Westerville Central on Friday at 7 p.m.

#25 Hilliard Davidson 76, #15 Licking Heights 55

Hilliard Davidson advances to the sectional finals to take on No. 17 Whitehall on Friday at 7 p.m.

#34 New Albany 67, #41 Franklin Heights 45

New Albany advances to the sectional finals to take on No. 7 Pickerington North on Friday at 7 p.m.

#26 Big Walnut 49, #42 Logan 47

Big Walnut advances to the sectional finals to take on No. 11 Olentangy Orange on Friday at 7 p.m.

#1 Gahanna Lincoln 65, #49 Whetstone 19

Gahanna Lincoln advances to the sectional finals to take on No. 46 Central Crossing on Friday at 7 p.m.

#24 Canal Winchester 61, #19 Lancaster 51

Canal Winchester advances to the sectional finals to take on No. 18 Northland on Friday at 7 p.m.

#29 Olentangy Berlin 48, #31 Hilliard Darby 45

High energy and 19 points from Austin Corley put the icing on the cake for the Bears as they celebrated their first tournament victory in school history.

Gio Roberts had 24 points for the Panthers in the loss.

Olentangy Berlin advances to the sectional finals to take on No. 9 Dublin Coffman on Friday at 7 p.m.

#30 Dublin Jerome 53, #27 Watkins Memorial 41

Dublin Jerome was in the “zone” on Tuesday, defeating Watkins Memorial 52-41. The Celtics slowed down the Warriors attack with their matchup zone, which helped them get a hand on nearly every pass. 

With the Celtics leading by 15 midway through the third quarter,  Watkins Memorial finished off the frame on a 9-3 run to cut the deficit to just nine. This run was sparked by a strong and-one conversion by sophomore Trace Hartman.

After battling back and forth for the majority of the game, a 11-2 second quarter by Dublin Jerome was too much to overcome.  The 6-foot-7 junior big man CC Ezirim was key part of this run by getting a steal, leading to a ferocious fast break dunk. 

The young and balanced Celtics were led by sophomore Luke Kuhlman with a game high 14 points, while Ezirim seemed to grab every rebound, pitching in eight points and a game high 10 boards. Sophomore point guard Ryan Nutter also added six points and a team high six assists.

Watkins Memorial was led by their leading scorer from the regular season in senior Dylan Banish with a team high 11 points, while junior Brent Casterline battled all night with Dublin Jerome’s solid big men, pitching in 10 points and a team high six rebounds. Senior Caleb Bodin added nine points and a game high seven assists. Look for the Warriors to be a threat to take back their LCL-Buckeye title next season, as they have several key players returning.

Dublin Jerome advances to the sectional finals to take on No. 10 Reynoldsburg on Friday at 7 p.m.

#38 Dublin Scioto 47, #35 Teays Valley 46

Dublin Scioto advances to the sectional finals to take on No. 5 Olentangy Liberty on Friday at 7 p.m.

#21 Upper Arlington 59, #23 Walnut Ridge 48

Quinn Corna went for 32 points as Upper Arlington advanced to the sectional finals in its final home game at its iconic old gymnasium. The Golden Bears overcame a 19-11 first half deficit with a 16-7 run to end the second quarter.

Corna scored 15 points in the second quarter alone to power the Golden Bears who dominated Walnut Ridge in the second half.

The Scots were led by 17 points and a handful of blocks and rebounds from promising freshman Navarion Adams.

Upper Arlington advances to the sectional finals to take on No. 8 Worthington Kilbourne on Friday at 7 p.m. 

#37 Independence 69, #39 Briggs 67

Independence  senior Keshawn Harris  finished with 23 as the Sixers hung on for the win in an overtime thriller.

Briggs delivered the first blow jumping out to an early  6-0 lead . They were paced by 7 points form senior forward Javion Williams and they held a 15-5 lead after one.

Briggs continued to pour it on , leading by as much as 17 in the quarter. Independence would offer a counter punch  though  and managed to only trail by 4 at the half behind a 9 point quarter from Keshawn Harris . 

The second half was back and forth contest with no team seeing a lead bigger than six points and went right down to wire as the Sixers made just enough plays to outlast Briggs

For Independence Keshawn Harris  had a team high 23 , Kevon Jackson had 8 , Geremiah Thompson  9 , Christian Byrd had 7 and a ton of winning plays that don't show in the stat sheet.

For Briggs  Javion Williams had a game high 25 , Keion Stevens-Ford had 20 , and Devonte Curry added 12

Independence  advances to the sectional finals to take on No. 4 Thomas Worthington on Friday at 7 p.m.

#20 Marysville 53, #33 Groveport Madison 48

Jack Christian (24 points) and Garrett Taylor (13 points) led Marysville past Groveport in Tuesday's sectional semifinal. The Monarch senior duo stepped up big in the second half to secure a hard fought tournament win.

Marysville advances to the sectional finals to take on No. 13 Newark on Friday at 7 p.m.
