A look at the top scorers from Friday night's boys action in Central Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Once you realize you're hot, don't stop letting it fly.

That was the motto for Bexley junior Henry Brandt on Friday night as he buried a school record nine three-pointers and dropped a career-high 32 points as the Lions took down league foe Columbus Academy.

While he has enjoyed some solid performances this season, I am not sure that anybody saw this outburst coming from Brandt.

Scoring all of his points in the first three quarters, Brandt got things going early on by hitting two triples in the first quarter, however he really began to catch fire in the next frame.

Nailing four triples in the second quarter, the junior helped Bexley engineer a huge 19-2 second quarter that allowed them to establish a comfortable lead that they rode the rest of the night.

Hitting three more three-pointers and converting on one shot from inside the arc in the third, the junior never cooled off and now has his name etched in history at Bexley.

At 6-foot-1, Brandt is an intriguing junior guard who offers a lot of value offensively. We hope to see him continue to come into his own and put up big time performances such as last night as we believe it could have been a coming out party.

While nobody in the area scored more than Brandt on Friday, there were still some great performances across the area, so let's take a look at them below.

Jackson Izzard (6'3 WG / Jonathan Alder / 2021): Izzard has been on an absolute tear this season and Friday night was no different. Going off for 31 points, the senior wing led Jonathan Alder to a dominant league win over Kenton Ridge. Shooting 12-20 from the field, Izzard hit two triples and dominated from all over the floor on the offensive end. With a great combination of size, athleticism, strength and skill, he is a very tough matchup for anybody in the CBC on the wing. Currently averaging over 18 points a night, Izzard seems to be the frontrunner to be the player of the year in the CBC and is on a mission to help Jonathan Alder reach new heights in the postseason this year. After a heartbreaking loss to DeSales in the district finals last season, Izzard and the Pioneers have a chance to enact revenge this year in the same game, but are taking things one game at a time for now.

Ajay Sheldon (6'1 PG / Dublin Coffman / 2022): Man oh man, has Sheldon been on a tear lately. Putting together yet another huge performance on Friday night, Sheldon dropped in 28 points as Dublin Coffman picked up a close two point win over rival Upper Arlington. This seems to have become the norm for Sheldon at this point in the season as he has taken the reigns of the Coffman offense and showed off elite skillset on that end by turning in some huge performances. With a dynamic handle and the ability to score from anywhere inside half court (literally) Sheldon is very tough to stay in front of and also does a good job of finding open teammates. Dublin Coffman is a potential sleeper team in the postseason this year as the Rocks can take down anyone when their shooters get going and it all starts with Sheldon.

Carter Jones (6'5 WF / Centerburg / 2021): In an unfortunate loss to league foe Fredericktown in a big game on Friday, Jones did all he could do to keep the Trojans in it. Going for an extremely efficient 28 points, the Mount Vernon Nazarene commit went 11-of-16 from the field, nailing eight two-point field goals and connecting on three triples throughout the contest. With a good IQ, a sense of how to use his body and a soft touch from everywhere on the floor, Jones is a great high school player who some folks may have never heard of due to the fact that he is at a school as small as Centerburg. While his team might not win the KMAC this year, Jones is without a doubt the best player in the league as he has proven all season.

Connor Beck (6'3 WG / Delaware Christian / 2022): Turning in yet another impressive showing on Friday night, Beck led Delaware Christian to a 60-44 league win over Northside Christian with a 28 point showing. Nailing on triple and connecting on twelve two-point field goals, Beck dominated all night long as Northside Christian simply had no match up for the junior guard. Beck has turned in some impressive performances as of late and although the competition level in the MOCAL is lacking, we hope to get a chance to check out players like he and Connor Slabaugh of Shekinah Christian in the future.
