COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Too strong, too fast, too athletic.

That has been Johnstown senior Gavin Foe against fellow Licking County League opponents this season.

Going off for 33 points and outscoring Northridge by himself on Friday night, Foe continued to dominate as the Johnnies picked up a 56-31 league win.

After being held to just two points by way of free throws in the first quarter and seeing his team trailing after one, Foe turned things up in the second and never slowed down after that.

After scoring 13 points in the second frame, the senior wing scored eight points in the third and 10 in the final quarter as he knocked down a couple of free throws late to seal the win for Johnstown as well.

While he has dominated opponents this year by attacking the rim off the dribble and bullying around smaller guards inside, Foe showed continued improvement to his jump shot on Friday night as he buried two triples in the second quarter to jumpstart his scoring spree.

Through 18 games this season, Foe is averaging over 19 points a night as notched a season-high in the win over Northridge.

If he continues to dominate like this then Johnstown has a great shot to win another district title in Division III this season although that bracket will be an absolute gauntlet.

When Johnstown is receiving contributions from key role players and Foe is in a rhythm then they are very difficult to beat as they currently sit at 14-4 overall and 11-1 in LCL play.

While he enjoyed an excellent showing on Friday night, Foe was not the only local player to turn in a big performance, so let's take a look at some of the rest below.

Derrick Bogay (6'3 WG / Westland / 2021): In a tough conference loss to New Albany on Friday night, Bogay did all he could for Westland as he went off for a career-high 30 points. Getting things going in the first quarter, the senior guard scored 10 of Westland's 12 points in the frame to keep things close after one. After slowing down a little bit in the middle two quarters, Bogay closed out the game with a 10 point quarter as well as he tried his best propel the Cougars to a comeback win. Nailing two triples, converting on nine two-point field goals and going six-of-eight at the free throw line, Bogay showed off his versatile offensive game in the outing. While Westland has struggled in recent years, the Cougars are slowly rebuilding things and players such as Bogay play key roles in that.

Isaac Ward (5'10 G / Logan Elm / 2021): Somebody offer this man. Doing what he does best once again on Friday night, Ward went for 26 points as Logan Elm took down league foe Amanda-Clearcreek. Ward has been on an absolute tear this season as he is averaging over 20 points a night and is the clear leader of a very talented Logan Elm team. Ward is a physical guard who can score from all three levels and defend well on the perimeter on the other end of the floor. We believe that Division II programs in the region should take a serious look at Ward as he has dominated the MSL-Buckeye this season and will make for an excellent college guard.

Des Watson (6'5 WG / DeSales / 2021): Nothing new here. While DeSales suffered their second one point loss of the week on Friday night, Des Watson was Des Watson as he scored 25 points to lead all scorers in the contest. There isn't a single player in Central Ohio who can take over a game the way that Watson can as he is a matchup nightmare for every team DeSales goes up against. The Davidson commit can beat you off the dribble and make exciting plays in the lane with his athleticism, can hit shots from the mid-range area and is continuing to shoot the three ball at a high rate this season. While DeSales will likely not win a share of the CCL after the loss on Friday, the league player of the year will probably not come from the league champion this season as nobody has been on the same level as Watson throughout this year.

Connor Beck (6'3 WG / Delaware Christian / 2022): In a tough loss to Shekinah Christian on Friday night, Beck led all scorers with 25 points in a duel with Connor Slabaugh. Hitting four triples and six two-point field goals, Beck scored in a variety of ways and did all he could to try and help Delaware Christian string together a comeback late. While we don't have much of an evaluation to offer on Beck since we have not covered him yet, we want to get out and see players such as he and Slabaugh at some point. Schools in MOCAL are very small and don't offer very high level competition, but regardless there are always a few small school gems in these types of conferences that we want to make sure we don't miss out on.

  • AJ Mirgon (5'11 G / Hilliard Bradley / 2021): 23 points in a 63-49 win over Olentangy Liberty
