A look at the latest power rankings in the area

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- We return for the fourth-straight week with power rankings in boys basketball. As has been the case for the last few weeks, we had another week of movement with top teams suffering upset losses.

Let's start with arguably the biggest story. Dublin Coffman snapped Hilliard Bradley's 5-year, 61-game OCC division win streak on Tuesday night, but then dropped a game against Olentangy Orange on Friday. Tuesday's win was huge for the Rocks but Friday's loss showed how crazy the OCC-Central is.

We had a top five battle between Gahanna and Pickerington North with the Lions returning to form and defeating the Panthers. That win for Gahanna keeps them in the driver's seat for a second-straight OCC-Ohio title, as it seems hard to imagine them losing more than two games from here on out. Worst case scenario, the Lions lose the next two games to Pickerington North and Westerville Central but still finish with a share of the league crown.

Thomas Worthington remained hot and proved that their top ranking is no fluke by winning their 9th and 10th straight games this past week. The Cardinals won an important rivalry game on Saturday against surging Worthington Kilbourne.

In Division II, the City League got underway last week which introduced some new teams to the rankings. Beechcroft, Linden, South and Africentric are the cream of the crop in D2 and D3, with Beechcroft being the only unbeaten after the opening week of City play.

We saw an undefeated team go down on Tuesday when Fredericktown lost on the road at Centerburg to give up control in the KMAC. Fredericktown's loss leaves Harvest Prep, Jonathan Alder and Beechcroft as the only unbeaten teams remaining in the area.

Whatever momentum Centerburg had from Tuesday's win was tapered on Wednesday when the Trojans lost to fellow Division III foe Columbus Academy.

In Division IV, Cardington remains on top as the Pirates have three more wins (13) than the next closest team in the area. Nearly half of Division IV is below .500, which will make Sunday's tournament very difficult for coaches to accurately seed.

Let's take a look at the full rankings across all four divisions.

DIVISION I

1. Thomas Worthington (12-4)
