A look at the latest power rankings in the area

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Power rankings are back in boys basketball! And these were as hard as we've ever had to rank as last week was absolutely nuts in Division I.

Let's recap.

Starting on Tuesday, Pickerington North was upset in overtime at Whitehall.

Then a day later, Gahanna held on to hand Westerville Central their first loss of the season.

Then on Friday, Pickerington North redeems themselves and takes down Westerville Central while Olentangy Liberty escapes Dublin Coffman with a last-second win.

Saturday is where things got really weird. First, Thomas Worthington absolutely obliterated unbeaten Gahanna on the back of 38 points from senior Jalen Sullinger in undoubtedly the best game of his career.

Roughly an hour later, Hilliard Bradley went down for the first time when Pickerington North (they had a pretty busy week) shut down the Jags in the second half and became the first local team to defeat Bradley since Jan. 4, 2020.

Woah. So what do you even do with all of those upsets? I'm not sure, but we did our best to rank teams based on momentum, quality wins and overall resume.

Thomas Worthington blitzing Gahanna the way they did, and the fact that the Cardinals have won 8-straight and are finally healthy led them to jump seven spots and climb to the No. 1 ranking for the first time all year.

Pickerington North, while losing at Whitehall on Tuesday, jumps to No. 2 after the 24-hour run they had in defeating the No. 1 and No. 3 teams in last week's rankings. The Panthers can prove last weekend wasn't a fluke when they host Gahanna on Saturday.

In Divisions II and III, the reintroduction of City League basketball brings in a handful of new teams to the polls for the first time all season as Linden-McKinley, Beechcroft, Africentric and South all looked good on Monday.

In Division IV, Cardington is the hottest team in the area as they've now won 11 games and have three more wins than the next closest team - which leads them to their first No. 1 ranking ever on 270 Hoops.

Let's take a look at the full rankings across all four divisions.
